My favorite bottle shop, with the great upside of also being a tasting room. Lori and Tyler (the owners) are great people with a rich enthusiasm for what they do. Daniel, the scruffy fellow behind the bar, is very knowledgeable as well, and always willing to help you find the right brew. This is a "young" store, barely a year old, but they have established themselves as a major player in the local beer scene. Regular events include a ladies’ homebrew club, other homebrew how-to events, themed tastings, food/beer pairings, guests from all over the country, and more. Their selection is outstanding, and it seems to only get better every month. The patio in the back area is a huge plus. Value is quite good, I believe, some price points are better than others. The draft flights are very good for someone wanting to try several beers without purging their wallet. Really a unique place. [Minor edits, Nov. ’11]

I love LBS. I could spend hours in the store trying American and import craft beers alike and I in fact have done this many a time. The staff is excited and passionate about beer and it shows. There is unfortunately not a lot of room in the actually store but that’s ok because the experience more than makes up for it.

This is a place where every time I walk in I feel loved and I feel at home .. Lori & Tyler are amazing people with a great knowledge and love for beer. Probably one of the best bottle selections one will find in town. I also enjoy the taps they rotate through .. you can even enjoy a brew as you peruse their collection of fine brews while listening to the LPs they play, or hangout outside which is an awesome enchanted atmosphere

Great place -- friendly, knowledgeable owners and a fantastic selection of beers of all types. I was a beer novice when the place opened last year, and they’ve provided the major impetus for everything I’ve learned and experienced ever since. Spending a post-work happy hour at LBS is the perfect way to while away a Thursday night, and the outside courtyard is a nice addition. And it’s especially cool that it’s part of the impressive renaissance of what was once a total urban wasteland. One of my favorite places in my hometown.

They’re knowledgable and you can get just about any type of beer being made in the world. Fine beer and the patio makes this place great.

A great store in the East Market District. There is a great beer selection, and both Tyler and Lori (the owners) are very knowledgeable about the beer they sell. They are very quick to serve and willing to offer their opinion and suggestions.

A warm, welcoming place that’s become another critical piece in a resurging neighborhod. Lori and (especially) Tyler have an obvious enthusiasm for and knowledge of their beers, and the selection to back it up. Feels like a gathering of old friends. The place can get a bit crowded at times, but that strikes me as a good thing -- the more business, the better. Definitely a place I plan to turn all my beer-loving friends on to, and my out of town visitors can expect to be taken there as well.

Quaint little bottle shop w/8 tap bar housing loads of great craft and imports. Taps are always rotating and the atmosphere is very inviting. Lori and Tyler have a gem of a beer stop with the Louisville Beer Store.

One of the best places to get good beer in Louisville. Most of the time you have to stand around or go sit out on the patio if you want to stay and drink but I’m ok with that because the beer is good and the service is good. There’s always someone to help give suggestions of what to order or buy. This place gets stuff no one else in the area does. If I’m ever out at a big box store and someone can’t find what they want I tell them to go to LBS. Also, great events on the back patio like music, food, brewing demos and even a fire pit for the chilly months.
