Interesting place. Itís like a beer store/bar hybrid. Not a massive amount of bottles but an excellent selection and what they do have is of high quality. Three Floyds in Kentucky? Surprising. Very good import choices. I get the impression that if it gets distributed in the area then they do their best to get it. Quite a few taps with lots of upcoming beer events listed on the chalk board. Limited seating and the place itself is small so I can see this being an issue. Very clean and well organized. Street parking and I donít know enough about Louisville to say whether the area is okay or not. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. Spoke with one person for a bit (Lori?) who clearly had passion for beer and came across to me as very knowledgeable. I thought the prices were very good for a bottle shop and the fact that you can open anything there for just a $1 increase is a great deal. Overall I think this is a pretty cool place with a formula for success.

Surprised the rating for this place isnít higher. Small place, but a great selection of bottles throughout. They also had a nice selection of about 8 or 9 taps available to drink while you were browsing for your beer. I had a FFF War Mullet and BSíd with one of the workers about Hill Farmstead for a few minutes. Really nice guy. Awesome place with a great selection (reasonably price) & a cool on-site taplist. I will definitely go back here whenever Iím in town.

Bottle shop with taps. I expected a better selection for some reason. Oh yeah the other ratings hinted at that... Left with two 12oz bottles. Meh. Smells of incense. The people working there just ragged on 3 Floydís inability to properly place labels on their bottles.

Visited 2/28/14. Nice clean and bright place, plenty of awesome beer to choose from as well as taps, which is cool. One guy was working alone and happy to field my questions. I enjoyed one sample on tap and bought 4-5 bottles. I could have easily spent a ton of money here, but hey, Iím from southern Georgia. No real complaints with the place or my visit. They had some clearance beer which is cool!

Updated 2/10/2014: Hadnít updated my review since 2011, so this is long overdue. PROS: Great use of a small space; bottles everywhere the eye can see, nothing phoned in, but awesome beer everywhere you look; if a hard to find release is in the area, itís probably here first. Service has been great in recent visits- Iím definitely not one of the "in crowd" but Tyler, Daniel, etc. always seem to remember past requests and preferences in our conversations, and have solid recommendations as well. I also think the beer here is priced very well, and is usually close to the lowest prices I can find on the same beer elsewhere around town. CONS: I really wish they had some kind of small cheese/meat cooler, but Iím making things up here. Maybe that their daytime hours are a bit limited- thatís about it. OVERALL: This place is pretty awesome, and you should not make a trip to Louisville without dropping by. A stand-alone destination that is worth the drive from far out of town.

If you know what you are looking for, this can be a great place, but do not expect much in service. For some reason they tend to ignore you which is strange for such a small space. A ton of Shelton Brothers and 12% products dominate the selection which can be good and bad. The atmosphere is very cool, its a nicely laid out space, and the patio can be fun to hang out in, but you always feel like if you are not part of the club, youíre not really welcome there.

Louisville Beer Store is on Market Street, just outside of downtown. Great ambiance inside. Really clean and well-presented. Impeccable organization and cleanliness. I didnít get acknowledged by the staff, though. Prices are also high. The size of the store limits inventory. There is an 8-tap bar which had some good stuff on, but I didnít have any. They were sold out of everything I was looking for at the time, but Iíd be willing to visit again when trying to find something in Louisville.

Revisited during another trip to Louisville. The selection in this store continues to amaze me - nicely organized and beautifully displayed. The real feature here is the Shelton Brothers availability, if you have a bunch in your market you may not be as impressed as I was. I visited early evening this time and there was a very friendly group hanging around. Both of my visits have had great service, surprised to read so many comments to the contrary on here.

Visited soon after they opened on a Tuesday. Small bottle shop with a big selection that also features a very well chosen list of 8 draft beers. The store is mostly comprised of coolers and shelves of beer, there is not anywhere to sit and chill, though you can stand at the bar near the check out. The selection here was truly fantastic, particularly Belgians, and Lambics. They had the largest variety of Fantomes I have seen in one place. Service was very friendly, wen out of their way to make suggestions, and was truly engaged with learning about what I was looking for. Once he established I knew a bit about beer, we had a nice geeked out beer conversation. Between this place and Sergios, Louisville is truly a special place to shop for beer.
88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
