This is a grimier Toronado with a lesser beer selection but also has some house beers. It’s a very dark place with a jukebox that has a ton of obscure stuff on it. Mostly punk sadly but also a little bit of metal. The walls are covered with concert fliers and the bartenders and regulars look that part as well. They make a ton of beers according to the database but they only had 3 on tap when I was there. The Half Wit wasn’t half bad but the IPA and the pale ale were pretty sub par. I spent more time looking through the juke box finding good music than I did drinking the beers. I need to get back to Austin for the music but not the Tex Mex (that stuff is crap) or the beer at this place.

Hipster meets biker bar. I give it a 3 on ambiance, just because it’s rather unique on sixth street. Several dozen bikes were parked in front when we came in, anything from 400cc crotch rockets to harleys. Inside, there was no music because motor GP was on the TV. (And the minute the race ended, the bar went from 80 or more patrons down to 10 almost instantly). Bartenders were very helpful. A decent selection of beer on tap, including a couple of their own. Worth a stop on a visit to Sixth Street.

I’ve literally tried to go to this place twice and both times they have been closed because their hours SUCK! Are they ever open? I’ve tried to go on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Until you get better hours my rating will stand.

Is this place even still open? It is horrible. The self-made beers on tap tasted like an infection had made its way into the beers, or maybe the lines were never cleaned. I would bet on the lack of clean lines as this place is just dirty all around. Horrible selection of other beers beside their own. But the staff was at least somewhat friendly. At least Gingerman is close.

The atmosphere is not what you would expect for a brewpub. The ambiance is that of a grunge or biker bar. The staff was knowledgeable of the beers brewed at the location. The house beers were mediocre but the establishment also offered many other choices.

Best beer in Downtown Austin. Ambience is biker bar. Everybody smokes in here, even though it is against code. The House beers have sucked but they have a great selection of locals and Euros. A nice spot to have a real beer when in the 6th street area.

Love the atmosphere at this place. Dark, dingy, a little bit metal, a little bit punk. A much welcome escape from the frat and party girl vibe on 6th. The bartenders are super friendly, as is brewer Todd, who I spoke to. As far as beer goes, however, I must say that it needs some work. Maybe a lot of work. There is a certain funk to their beers that I cannot place, but it cannot be intentional. Score may improve as Todd brings the beers back to life.

Love the ambiance! A great place to escape the college kids on 6th street - just shifty-looking enough from the outside that most people would pass it up... that’s what I love about it. Great patrons, great staff, laid back, friendly environment. Short lines at the bar. I always enjoy stopping by Lovejoys while in the neighborhood, and it’s not hard to convince friends to come with. Oh, and they sell cheap growlers to bring home their house brews. Not too incredibly impressed with their house beers, but they have a few that are pretty good.
