42 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 8/20 GT2 (346) Riverslime, California | July 22, 2011 Big tourist trap smack dab in the middle of shopping district of The Rocks. Super crowded with an extremely mediocre tap list of only macro German stuff: Franziskaner, Paulaner, etc. Probably 4 different German things on tap and bottles of Lowenbrau and other easy to find stuff. Not really a craft beer place, but if you need hefeweizen on tap; this may be you’re only bet in Sydney. But expect a ton of tourists and modest food with ridiculous tourist prices. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 Sevenlee (54) Central Coast, NSW, Australia | January 23, 2011 Top location and a top place. Awesome ambiance inside with a reasonably authentic Bavarian feel. One of the only places in Sydney allowed to serve 1 litre beers. Not a huge selection but most people are drinking the Löwenbräu and the rest of the place certainly makes up for it. Great Oompapa band later on at night. Love this place. | 42 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 8/20 rmussman (15) California | January 12, 2010 Visited right before leaving Sydney. Its a nice big bar that caters to tourists. The Rocks area is cool but this bar is very pretentious, overpriced and service is not too good. | 54 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 dmtroyer (24) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | April 27, 2008 This was heaven on earth when I visited Sydney but was longing to be traveling in Germany (where I lived for a time). Spaetzle was good, but don’t be fooled this is quite the tourist trap. Expect to pay well for modest food and beer. | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 duff (40) Lund, Sweden | April 4, 2006 I popped in here every once in a while. There are not too many places you can get good German wheats on tap in Aus, so i guess us Aussies should be thankful for that. This place is bloody expensive though and the staff don’t really know too much about the beer. Its a fun place to come for a stein of German lager though. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 mullet (224) Melbourne, Australia | December 18, 2004 Full of tourists and the staff are pretty clueless. Food is good and beers you can’t get anywhere else, but it’s FREAKING expensive. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 haddon90 (29) Newport Beach, California | July 31, 2004 What a place!! Very authentic German atmosphere. Good beer too. Service was very friendly, and they were very knowledgable about thier beer. The best part about this place is the sink in the men’s bathroom. Definitely an idea Americans need to adopt. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 20/20 miko (1) , Australia | May 21, 2004 | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Muggus (2) Sydney, Australia | March 7, 2004 A very authentic German experience; the beer, food, design of the pub itself and even the waiters/waitresses. Great selection of German beers your not likely to find anywhere else in Sydney on tap, not the mention other German beverages and the delcious meal. By no means a cheap night out, but a great place for a memorable one. |
