A London mecca for Dutch and Belgian beers on tap and especially in bottles, there’s a big selection and they’re all on a menu card so there’s no need to strain over the long bar counter that greets you on the left as you enter. This is more of a ’bar’ than ’pub’ in appearance and it has a dense collection of tables that can pretty much take any size group, and all suitable for dining as food is very much on the menu too. The cosiest areas are to the rear where there is a small balcony area which you can sit on or underneath. This place is expensive, although given some of the high volume beers available this partly accounts for the prices, however some people still sup the high-volume stuff like it is standard lager not realising the proper and slower method of drinking these in their country of origin. There’s no defined outdoor area but if the weather is good there might be a couple of small tables put out on the street.

Belgian-style beer cafe located near Covent Garden. Table service only. 15 taps dispense macro Belgian and Dutch beers (the likes of Delirium, Leffe etc). The bottle selection is however better - about 80 Belgian bottled beers on offer. They have a decent lambic selection - Boon, Girardin etc, as well as Trappist beers. You can get bottles from the fridge or the cellar - just ask. They also do take-away. On the downside the staff are not particularly knowledgeable and the prices are pretty steep. A decent option in central London, but don’t expect to find anything too unusual.

Lunchtime, midweek: my wife, daughter and I had a couple of beers and a meal in here before watching the wonderfully performed ‘Shrek’ musical at a theatre just down the road. A corner bar with basic wooden floor and furniture; a long row of Belgian beer taps dominate the room, there is an upstairs overflow area for when it’s busy (or for a private party), this area has a view over the rest of the place below.. We were the first through the door but it soon began to fill with tourists and city office workers wanting food and a bevy. The staff and customers gave off good vibes; this is a likable, welcoming place which reminded us of the typical Belgian/Dutch bars we tend to use when in that part of the world. So someone has done a good job in recreating such a bar in this part of tourist infested London. The beer choice is fairly comprehensive although the beers are mostly the safer, well known beers Belgium produces. I had two bolleke of De Koninck (on tap), my daughter a Bruges Zot (on tap), the wife a coffee followed by a bottle of Karmeliet. The correct glasses came with the beers. They stock 0.75 litre bottles of a few brews: La Chouffe and 3 different Cantillon are the ones I remember. The food was excellent, although a bit expensive: Bitterbollen, followed by a Club Sandwich, a Pasta dish and a lovely Fish Gratin, every plate was licked clean. A mini warning: 12.5% service charge is added to your bill, on both food and drink, so please take that into account when ordering, or ask for it to be removed and just pay what you think is reasonable for the service you got. I had no qualms about paying it because we were well looked after, might have complained if we’d had a mega drinking session.

Visited during the evening with friends who highly recommended this place. Was packed even during mid-week so luckily they had booked a table. Now, the beer range is sub-standard and tap selection is not worth getting excited about. I had the Moules Marinieres for a main which was OK and reasonably priced. The side dish of ’frites’ was absolutely horrible though - stale and cold. The night was saved with a bottle of Drie Fonteinen Gueze which, other than the company, was a positive. I wouldn’t go out of the way to visit - but from a non beer geek perspective it’s not the worst place to spend an evening.

Stopped in on a Friday evening. They were promoting some sort of "festival," focusing on Belgian beers, it seemed, but none of the beers were particularly special. Stuff you might not see often in London but stuff that any Belgian beer fan would have tried at least three times before. Seating area inside was crowded and the bar staff seemed to be struggling a bit. Definitely did not know anything about the beers. Prices were a bit high but I suppose on par with the area of London. Not a terrible place to visit, especially if you are dying to get Belgian beer. I just don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.

My my how this place has gone downhill. Back in the day, you could regularly get all the Westies, a great selection of lambic, Stille Nacht, vintage Orval etc etc. The food was of a very high standard and the service was nothing short of exceptional. These days most of the once good menu is "sold out", the service (though pleasant when you finally get to speak to someone) is slow and inattentive, the bar staff don’t know a gluhkriek from a saison and the food is hugely overpriced standard pub fodder dressed up with posh words. Don’t order an Orval, two months old is the very best you can hope for. Oh and last time I was here two seperate people tried to tell me that the white and black labled Girardin were the same, "they just have different lables..." can you imagine??? A sad loss to the London scene, this once great place is now just one big, very noisy let down. Avoid.

Ambiance needs a bit of work and I didn’t like the glasses being kept on the bar. Table service on all beers and every beer had it’s own glass was fantastic, really enjoyed the banter with the waitress as well. Great belgian beers, tried a couple i’d never had before and enjoyed them both.

Decent selection of belgian beers. Ambiance was crap, nothing to do over there. Horrible looking bar, bad counter. Only go here if you really want a Belgian beer and you dont have regular access to it. For ambiance, go to any classic english pub, which should not be difficult to find in London.
