NOrmal bottle selection as in whole Great Britain. Staff is trained in good beer and they even had some rare Brewdog bottles. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 rosenbergh (334) Helsinki, Finland | March 2, 2012 Decent selection of Scottish brews as well as some from England, the US, Germany, Belgium and Denmark. Some bottles also in cold. Worth a visit. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Rune (319) Tromsø, Norway | January 5, 2009 The shop where I bought my bottled beers while visiting St Andrews for a fortnight. Far the best beer shop in town, though it is more devoted to wine than beer. In addition to a fair selection of Scottish beers, they also provide a few bottles from England, Belgium, Germany and USA. Friendly sales staff. The Central Bar is just on the opposite side of the street. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Bragesnak (80) Aarhus, Denmark | August 3, 2008 Found some Inveralmond Ales. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 DonMagi (50) bantervile, England | January 13, 2008 Excellent must visit place in st andrews, infact possibly one of the main reasons for me going there. When entering the chap not only says hey and asks where your from but generally asks if you want a glass of wine and when you say your here for beer you can see hes contimplating opening one for your visit. Good selection of harder to get beers and good belgiun selection. Nice place but why is it so far away from me! | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 RoyceH (32) Hesperange, Luxembourg | March 2, 2007 My local bottle shop. Nice to have a mill around without any pressure to buy. The beer rack nearest the window contains all sorts, huge selection of Scottish micros, some English beers, and a selection of some of the more obvious Belgian / Germans. Various islands around the store are stocked with macros for those without the accustomed tastebuds.
Staff are quite knowledgeable, usually able to tell what’s coming in, and if they can get a certain beer you want. Selection varies, depends when they’re due an order, you can go in sometimes and have as little as 30 on the shelf, sometimes more than 90, but a goodish stock is maintained. Good place to shop, if a little pricey, good if you’re a wine drinker too, HUGE selection of those, spirits, cigars, occasional snacks, and if you’ve got money burning a hole, there’s the fine wine room, if you’re into some of the rare wines. Good place to visit, if you’re passing, just don’t expect anything stupidly rare. |
