Nice clean place pretty standard decor, medium sized. Staff seemed reasonably well informed. Both beers I got were pretty mundane, but the food was fantastic, had the whitefish sandwich. Not really a beer nerd spot more of a unique restaurant with some of their own brew.
Nice downtown location. Not a huge beer selection but the stout I had was solid. The food was very good as was the service. More of a restaurant experience than some of the funky local brewpubs, but a pleasant place to visit nonetheless.
Stopped in for a flight. This place has a decent menu and is cool enough on the inside, but the beer just isnít that good over all. Only three of the beers I tried did I like at all. Service is decent and prices are all right, but this just isnít a place for fans of better beer. The beer is almost incidental. Still an ok place, but compared to North Peak, thereís no real reason to go here.
A bit run down, though we were seated fairly quick. Staff was knowledgqble though fairly fast as it is tourist season. The food is decently priced and fairly good. The beer is average, with the IPA slightly above average. Better to give this a try if the 4 better bars are full with long waits.
This place seems to get kind of a bum rap for some reason, but I enjoy stopping in here when I get to Traverse City.
The beer selection is fairly typical of restaurant type brewpubs, and the beer quality is about what you expect from that type of place. In other words, itís good, but unremarkable.
Thereís a definite house flavor to all their beer, but again, that should be expected in a place like this.
The food is quite good, and a decent value. Mackinaw Brewing is right on the main tourist drag, so it gets quite busy at times, but lunchtime on weekends is typically quiet enough that one can relax at the bar, sip through the beers, watch a ballgame, and chat with the bartender.
They do a mean Bloody Mary here, or so I gather by the number of them that I see the bartender make.
Iíve never had a bad experience in here. If youíre in town, itís worth popping in.
Located right on front street in the heart of it all. A slightly more upscale brew pub than average. Nice hardwood bar as you enter and more seating to the rear. The beer is actually very good (I guess it has to be in this part of the country) - served in nice full sized pints. Only a few house drafts, though. Definitely worth a stop when in T.C.
