Odd spot for one of Sydneyís handful of brewpubs. Itís in the border country where the CBD gives way to seedier fringe suburbs and most of the surrounding bars are dismal pokie palaces. The beer selection is standard except for their own brews, which for some reason are served in a a drab side bar/pool room. The staff seem more interested in each other than customers. Service was polite but disinterested. Nonetheless, itís worth a visit to try their beers, which are well made. There are four on tap: a pilsener, wheat beer, pale ale and - unusually for this part of the world - a schwarz.

Old hotel pub, with red velvet drapes, worn carpet, and stained glass interior doors. Cozy. House beers (4 plus a cider when we were there) accompanied by about 6 other taps including a few Aussie microbrews. Two of the beers were fresh and tasty when we were there--the Centennial Ale (a hoppy dark ale) and the Paddo pale. Others were not as good, but the bartender offered us to sample all without a fee, which was nice. Overall a good experience.

Serves up six house beers on tap under the Schwartz label. The beers are not great and I get the impression that they may well be toned down to appeal to the patrons who visit the pub as their regular local. The venue itself is very ípubishí, thereís the oh so common onsite gaming room and a main bar serving up all the bland macros you can imagine. And yes the staff are very disinterested in general. Extremely disappointing as the location is great and could be a real gem in Sydney city. In all honesty youíre better to spend the extra bucks and drink at Redoak and The Taphouse.

Staff that donít give a ratís arse about service, let alone beer. Worth going to for the beer, particularly the Schwartz. The area away from the brewery has always been a unique place - often dreary. Not really a place to go to cheer oneself up.

Limitied selection apart from their own beers. Staff donít have much enthusiasm for the product. Not much ambience; big screen tv, pokies and a pool table, not conducive to a quiet pint.

Interesting as I never saw this on here. Funny story about this place as Jeremy and I saw Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals here. Nice atmosphere. Good location. But the beer selection is like any other bar in Sydney. Friendly staff. The good part about this place is itís a hotel as well and I will be staying here when I come back! Great service from Amelia, Emma, and Tammy. Always good to ask the staff if theyíve ever heard of Red.
