In the back of the Portland Public Market in Monument Sq. Used to go here occasionally when I lived in Protland. There is no free parking nearby that is regularly available so be ready to circle a bit. The selection is large but you wonít find any gems. I always hit RSVP on Woodford ave. or Wholefoods when I was in town. great selection at both. You can get Black Albert when its in season at RSVP.

Tucked into the back corner of the public market they carry a standard selection of local brews and mainstream micros as well as a handful of big bottle beer selections that are certainly acceptable and varied. Its not my first thought when Im out looking to snag some high end brews but if Im walking by and stop in I can usually pick something out worth trying !

This reminded me of the Spuyten Devil store in NYC, enclosed in a funky Public Market, not a huge selection, but some interesting ones, like the Maine BC. Good if youíre in the downtown core, and you want to shop for beers, cheeses, artesanal products.

Happened upon this place because it was practically right next door to a vegan buffet restaurant I was checking out - as of summer í07 this place did not have nearly the selection of Downeast - pretty much a full stock of all the local brews that you can buy pretty much anywhere around here, even at gas stations, with a few exceptions in the form of fairly common belgian and canadian imports - the cheese shop is nice, and they have a nice selection of olives, but as a beer store it isnít that impressive.

This is basically a small stand within the enclosed Portland Public Market, with nearly the same selection as the much larger Downeast Beverage. Virtually every in-season Maine beer available, most of the 12 oz available in mix-a-six, with quite a few logo glasses available as well. Excellent cheese shop across the aisle and plenty of other gourmet vendors within the market. Food rating for the cheese shop.
