Me and Loz visited the Malting Pot in Ixelles, Brussels on wet and grey afternoon on Saturday 21st March 2015. Of all the beer shops that I have visited in Belgium (and btw I am refering to Beer shops and not warehouse’s here) this is probably one of the most modern and forward thinking. I say this because it makes a supreme effort to sell the sort of beers from breweries that are making waves in the beer world as opposed to adopting a stance like the rest which is to only sell Belgian beers. Mikkeller, Kernel, Partizan, T’Ol, Brewdog, Founders, etc are all sold here along with a healthy selection of some of the better and more innovative Belgian brewers. It is situated on a triangle corner type plot. It’s a small shop but it is very well stocked and you would imagine that the size of the shop would certainly allow the owner to constantly change and update his choice. The owner was a nice fellow who knew his beery stuff. I really liked this place and came out with four or five bottles.

Nice little store with a small but quality selection at reasonable prices. Not just Belgian stuff but interesting international beers. The service was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and unlike a lot of places in Bussels, Malting Pot feels like a real craft beer shop and not a tourist trap. Will certainly return.

Nice cosey place. Setup of the store is neat with nice wood. Friendly staff. Small collection, but with a few exceptions above average quality beers. Some rarities. Also a lot of empty bottles, most of them with a high wannahave value. Empty bottles on shelves in a bottle store is for me a bit of a nogo. Anyway. Goos selection of local Lambics and a nice selection of British beers (Beavertown, Tiny Rebel to name a few). Would definately visit again if I have the oportunity. Unsure of the prices, they were not on the beers or on the shelves. The overall price I paid for my selection was fair though.

Definitely my favorite beer shop in Brussels ! The owner is a passionate and gives good advices. We can see that this beershop has been created with locals in mind and not tourists (unlike BeerTemple or BeerMania). Here, you will find a great selection of belgian beers (but none of the ones you would buy at Delhaize anyway) and some really good beers from abroad.

A new addition to the Brussels beer scene which opened within the last year. A small craft beer store which claims to have the best selection of imported beers in Brussels. It is a pity that most of the really interesting bottles on show are empty. Friendly knowledgeable service, average prices. Good store but we now have much better in Scotland.
