66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 BiddleBrau (76) Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | April 18, 2013 Stopped by after many years. Place really hasn’t changed much. Pretty dark and had that ’dank’ Tried a flight of 8... that were OK. Service not too up on beers from what I can tell. Didn’t try the food but the popcorn was pretty good. Average place when I was there | 62 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 bigalittlea (1) Pennsylvania | March 21, 2013 this may be a brewpub by definition, but its emphasis is decidedly not on the beer. the place is flooded about every 5 years, leaving a stale mold smell in an otherwise cool ambiance.
bartenders are fairly clueless as it’s more of a party bar than a beer bar. beer is frequently poured in incorrect glasses, and honestly tastes like soap.
only time i’ve liked a manayunk beer has been AWAY from the brewery. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | January 6, 2013 Huge space with multiple rooms and bars on the two levels. During the summer they have a large deck open that overlooks the river with outdoor bars, too. They only have their brews on tap and they are all passable but nothing exceptional. I prefer their seasonals to their regular stuff as they seam to be better. Food is tasty. They have their own sushi bar, too. Definitely gets loud and club like on the weekends which I could do without. Not your standard brewpub experience and not my favorite. But, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad place, just not my scene. I’d go back if I was nearby and they had one of their better seasonal brews on. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Leafs93 (100) Conshohocken, Pennsylvania | August 15, 2012 Stopped by for dinner, wanted to sit on the deck but some rain detered that. Beers are decent, nothing spectacular but they have been improving the seasonals. Food was good. Atmosphere was a little weird for a brewpub, seemed like they were trying to be more upscale. Aaa | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 UDBeernut (92) Near Buffalo, New York | March 1, 2012 Manayunk Brewery is located between Main Street and the Schuykill River in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. The bar/restuarnt is quite large with bars and dinning rooms on the lower level and the second level. It also features a large patio that over looks the river and a railroad tresstle bridge that crosses over the Schuykill. There is lots of pay parking available on main street and free street parking a few blocks east.
All of the beers on tap are their own. They had about 8 beers on tap including a DIPA, APA, wheat beer, and a few lagers. Everything I had was served in appropriate glass wear. The beer was tasty but nothing over the top. The servers were quick and attentive.
Did not try the food, prices were a bit high but nothing I would not expect in the trendy Manayunk section.
| 50 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 9/20 jredmond (161) Manhattan, New York | February 19, 2012 This is not the place I want to be on a Friday or Saturday night. The crowd becomes very "fratty" and I think within 2 minutes of walking into the place, I could’ve been in several fights just by making eye contact with the wrong individuals. Every other person I came across was tinkering along the line of blackout and the place smelled of vomit. Once I was finally able to make it to the bar I checked out the beer menu - seemed like some interesting selections. I chose the IPA while my buddies got the fruit lager. The IPA smelled amazing, the taste was a bit more average, while the fruity lager was a mess. I would actually consider going back to this place to sample more of their brews if I knew I didn’t have to risk my life in doing so. Manayunk, in general, has always rubbed me the wrong way in this respect. Evolve already! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 9, 2011 Large place where you can sample all 8 beers, including a variety of seasonals, while watching the activity in the attached brewery. All the beers were very solid, not a bad beer in the bunch, with a handful that were extremely tasty. Food was good, service was stellar. Brewer stopped by to offer a taste from the brightening tank and to vhat about the beers. I definitely need to retun in the summer to try the patio that faces the river. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 DiarmaidBHK (523) Pennsylvania | May 18, 2011 Located in a basement although they also have an upstairs section as well as a big patio. It’s on a beautiful spot on the Schuylkill river. They have 8 things on tap and everything is really, really malty. Most of them were very solid although I think the recipe for Schuylkill punch should be thrown away. Manayunk is kind of a hip neighborhood so the crowd kind of skewered younger and was full of the kind of people who are confused that they can’t get Miller Lite and have no idea how to read a beer menu. (fortunately there is help available.) I’d love to go back on a bright, sunny day and eat on the patio. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (606) Montreal, Quebec | August 5, 2010 Manayunk itself feels like a very small town with a cute commercial main st. Set about 1km away from Manayunk’s R6 train station you can catch from downtown Philly, Manayunk Brewing is relatively large brewpub that feels a bit like a basement with its brushed up cement floors. The 8 beers offered on draught were of varied styles (a dubbel in July is not a common sight), but mostly unmemorable besides their intensely aromatic California Dreaming IPA. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was almost empty and we had a good time watching that Tour de France race when Schleck had mechanical problems and got raped by Contador. We have not eaten, but the beer bill was relatively cheap for Philly. Service was attentive without being spectacular. I must say the whole experience was a bit ordinary, especially that this was a brewpub I was looking forward to visiting for a couple of years. I’m glad I did, but I doubt I’ll go through the trouble next time considering the unfrequent train service. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 delirium11 (27) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | June 10, 2010 The place was really cool. Its set up in what looks like an old industrial building, right on the river, with a view of the bridge. The place is huge, but they didn’t have that many beer on tap when I was there. The beers that they did have were okay. Probably one of the best places to go to for craft beer in Manayunk and they’re a little cheaper as well. |
