What a place :-) Always crowded but a nice atmosphere. Oldfashion english pub!

one of the best real ale pub in london!! great atmosphere especially on saturday with the market nearby.. always 12 pumps on with harveys best only "house" beer .. never tried the food but the restaurant upstairs seems good .. worth a visit !!

Perhaps the best pub I’ve found in London. The beer line-up is superb and constantly changing, the bartenders are (mostly) cute and amiable, the decor is lovely and beer-centric, the prices are nices, and the location is boss. I don’t know about the food as I haven’t tried any. There is lots of space at tables and at the bar, plus plenty of standing room outside. I stop in here every time I am in Southwark. Just a stellar place all around.

Very good rotation of local british micros casks. Good food. Crowded during the market days (fri-sat)

Gat place with loads of casks. Prepare to add new beers... Shabby and worndown; a timeless classical place.

Beer quality has steadily improved over the years and you have been certain of a good condition beer here for a long while now. After the recent refurb the place is now clean and tidy and bigger and with more casks on. Some original features and atmosphere has been lost, but the gains are worth it. It is now less a market porter’s pub and more a trendy office worker / tourist pub. Weep for the dirty old pub, but welcome the new. O, and the food is now more expensive and a little more upmarket.

A must when you visit London. 10 casks, some kegs and bottles. Crowded but still with a nice atmosphere. Traditional english pub with nice staff.

Must be the busiest pub in England... Which means a high turn over, and constantly new beers. Drop in for 10 new beers and come back tomorrow for 5 others... It’s a Ratebeerian’s paradise

This is one of the pubs we just have to visit whenever we are in London. It can at times be very crowded, there are limited seats, but always very very cozy. They have old barrels as tables and in the ceiling there are lots and lots of pump clips. Try to come in the beginning of the day, then it is easier to find a chair. The staff is very friendly, helpful and patient whenever ordering your beers. They have a large selection and varation on the beers on tap, and the beers are almost always in good condition. They serve traditionel pub lunch as well. This is a pub where lots of different people come, tourists, scoopers and rateberians, and locals as well, since it is just opposite Borough Market. I even saw Jamie Oliver in there once :-)

A good place to have some rare real ales in London. 10 real ales on tap and I had to taste them all. Frendly service and nice atmophere (3.8.2008). Nothing has changed. Now 11 different real ales and one cider on tap (18.10.08).
