In front of the lovely Borough market in Southwark. Very busy all day with a lovely selection and a beautiful ambiance.

Nice traditional beer place just opposite to Borough Market. Mostly real ales on taps but also Meantime APA in keg. Overcrowded, loudy but with typical London reliesh. Huge crowd of drinking people outside.

Popped into this pub on a market day, while the market was in full swing. Excellent pub, 10 beers and 2 ciders on top, as well as the nitro stuff. Good fun and good clientelle, lot of beer being drunk, and 7 new rates for me. Good barstaff (the ones that could understand me) and good beer!

Gat place with loads of casks. Prepare to add new beers...
Shabby and worndown; a timeless classical place.

I dunno - I was let down by my visit - only there was more beer engine than cask, it seemed a little crowded and suit-filled - although the luncheon in the restaurant upstairs was fine. And I got two ratings so obscure neither beer is in the database yet! Better than decent, but I wonít be back - Iíll go back to Royal Oak instead.

Great place. Wide beer selection and really nice ambiance, even if it is very cahotic most of the afternoon. To have a beer, I suggest to go late, after 10pm! One of the best places!

I used to work in Southwark Street in the sixties. Then there were still areas undeveloped after World War bombing. Today the district is utterly unrecognisable. The Market Porter probably hasnít changed much, except for the noisy city boys in suits. And Iím pretty sure the selection of beer is better nowadays.

This area has plenty of pubs but this is the only one you need to know about. Great food and a constantly rotating beer selection. After a few pints youíll be constantly rotating too.

Directly opposite Borough Market; this has a traditional boozer feel with wood panelling, wooden tables and barrels for tables. Excellent range of taps - beers from across the UK. The bottle selection is limited to commercial usual suspects so this place is strictly for ale drinkers. Plenty of space with an upstairs. Didnít try the food - if there is any - so canít comment.

The MP is easy enough to find - just across from Borough Market. The first thing I noticed were all the businessmen standing outside enjoying a pint during lunchtime. This is a classic, traditional English corner pub. Inside there is alot of character - wood paneling on the walls and a wooden floor with a very worn look and beer coasters on the walls. There is a rectangular bar in the middle and a small, little back room and corner areas with wooden tables and chairs. There were lots of old blokes sitting at the bar drinking pints, but more businessmen during the day. There is also a traditional a la carte menu served in the upstairs restaurant. There is a good selection of cask ales on tap. The Market Porter is a must stop in London for the classic English pub experience, and some good ales from the handpump.
