A nice large English pub right next to Borough Market. A nice selection of casks with not much a bottle selection. It was a bit tough to get the attention of the bartenders but was a bit busy. Prices were competitive. Overall quite a nice place to grab a beer after visiting the market.

This pub used to be a great traditional market pub. In recent years it has been enlarged but still retains much of its character. A really good selection of real ales available but some times the service can be very indifferent and it can get extremely busy. On sunny and warm days there can be amny people standing outside but inside can be quieter.

2014 rating 76. We hadnít visited for around 12 months so a look while we were in town was called for. Not as busy on a sunny Saturday evening as it used to be. Decided to stay indoors as we donít like plastic glasses. Hot and sweaty indoors, itís a drinking parlour these days. The range was decent enough and the quality fine. The beers seemed to come from the South West, which is ok with us. Still very much worth a visit.
2010 rating 80, Iíve been here a few times now, the approach through the old street market makes it characterful. The choice of beers has dropped off in recent years, but the atmosphere remains interesting. I always enjoy the bustle of the place and the beers tend to be varied and in good nick.

Great place. Wide beer selection and really nice ambiance, even if it is very cahotic most of the afternoon. To have a beer, I suggest to go late, after 10pm! One of the best places!

Very nice and cozy place, definitely the best pub in the area. Allot of real ales however not all of them are that great. I really liked the ambiance of the place with the open fireplaces and little noocks. The locals seemed friendly as well as I got into a conversation with a guy straight away.

The best pub for real ales around Borough Market. Cozy interiors, but gets very busy at night. Friendly staff, will provide samples. Vast range of English bitters an some specialty beers. Havenít tries the food. Not cheap but reasonable prices. Good location will make me stop again.

Lots of unique cask ales but the quality level is generally mediocre. The pub is usually rammed, too. I would only recommend it during off hours.
OLD REVIEW: Perhaps the best pub Iíve found in London. The beer line-up is superb and constantly changing, the bartenders are (mostly) cute and amiable, the decor is lovely and beer-centric, the prices are nices, and the location is boss. I donít know about the food as I havenít tried any. There is lots of space at tables and at the bar, plus plenty of standing room outside. I stop in here every time I am in Southwark. Just a stellar place all around.

Right near the Wheatsheaf. Bigger type pub but nowhere near as busy. Quiet bordering on dead, although it was a Monday night. Service was polite and efficient. Selection was solid, touch better than Wheatsheaf next door. Solid for a quick drink

Big old pub with big selection. The front beers where in fine condition, the beers on the side not so much. Ok service. Ok prices.
