A popular pub across from the Borough Market which on a good night you’ll have to fight through a crowd standing outside just to get in, let alone served at the bar. if you do make it that far you’ll find a decent selection of ales available. Set on two floors it serves food and its interior is traditional for an inner city London pub but slightly plusher than your average back street hole, however the traditional look is very in keeping with the historic Victorian trading centre appearance of the immediate area.

Nice place next to the enterance to borough, quite nice and noisybut the beer list is not as good as the hype., Food upstairs though, was excellent from the modern british school. Recomended.

Gets rammed pretty much all of the time - quite tired decor but good food and a fair beer range.

A place I used to frequent regularly in the late 90’s - late 00’s before the good pub scene exploded in London! 10 or so cask lines with micros from around the country. A bit samey in terms of choice, ie - twiggy brown bitters and golden blondes are in abundance. A bit dingey on the inside and always packed of an evening. Service is so, so, often young overseas staff who’s knowledge of the beer isn’t too great. Once a go to destination, still worth a visit for some new rates, but has been left behind in recent years. Last visit Apr ’12.

10 casks with variety of different styles. Beer tastes good. Typical UK pub style and atmosphere. Not a bad place if you are after new cask ticks. Prices not too bad either, but typical London so not too great either. If you are after a British pub feel with a decent cask selection a good place to go.

Directly opposite Borough Market; this has a traditional boozer feel with wood panelling, wooden tables and barrels for tables. Excellent range of taps - beers from across the UK. The bottle selection is limited to commercial usual suspects so this place is strictly for ale drinkers. Plenty of space with an upstairs. Didn’t try the food - if there is any - so can’t comment.

A nice large English pub right next to Borough Market. A nice selection of casks with not much a bottle selection. It was a bit tough to get the attention of the bartenders but was a bit busy. Prices were competitive. Overall quite a nice place to grab a beer after visiting the market.

I brought my heavy plastic bags from Utobeer into this bustling pub. A little worn down and not the most interesting ales this day. I also tried some Meantime beers from keg. Efficient service. (Visited November 15th 2012)

We visited here on our Thames Tipple on Sat 20th October 2012, though I have been here frequently before. I have to say that I remain distinctly unimpressed with this pub. I always think that I’ll like it but it never does anything for me. However it looks great on a Saturday when the market is in full swing, the place is packed to the rafters with many stood outside. I don’t have a problem with the beer selection or how it is kept, I just don’t really warm to the pub when I feel that I should, its hard to get served, you struggle to find a seat and it seems a bit too dark and dingy, but I guess that shows it is popular and hey dark and dingy can be called character. However it’s got a good reputation and as I said it looks lovely especially from the outside and you would like to see this place continue to flourish for many years to come.

one of the best real ale pub in london!! great atmosphere especially on saturday with the market nearby.. always 12 pumps on with harveys best only "house" beer .. never tried the food but the restaurant upstairs seems good .. worth a visit !!
