A great bar, located right across from the Borough Market (with the Utobeer store), it opened at 12pm the day I visited. Inside it’s a series of wooden tables on wooden floors, with a bar that reaches around the bottom floor, showing off a good selection of cask ale and a few CO2 taps as well. Upstairs is the restaurant, where I had some onion soup with bread as I sat right up near an open window and people-watched the market right across the street. Can’t really put a number on the selection since I’m not a local, but the beer we had that day was of fairly high quality, in my opinion. Good bar, no more than 1/2 block from the tube. This is a place I would visit again. Show up early or you might not find a place to sir downstairs.

This place was pleasant enough until it got really crowded. Massive numbers of people piled all around, inside and outside. OK if you like crowds, but avoid weekends if you don’t.

Way too busy on my visit. Lots of casks, which of course is the appeal. The place looked nice on my limited stay indoors (we were drinking outside). A couple of the beers, though, were off.

Pretty much an essential stree corner pub with nice wooden floor, walls, bars and everything basically. Good natural lighting ensures that the place is not too dark. Chatty, active locals make for a mixed crew that ranges from the beer geek to the afterwork suit and tie worker. Solid selection obviously. A classic, worthy London pub with excellent service.

Excellent crowd spilling out onto the street, interior was spacious but packed solid. Good vibe. I was tipsy.

A popular pub across from the Borough Market which on a good night you’ll have to fight through a crowd standing outside just to get in, let alone served at the bar. if you do make it that far you’ll find a decent selection of ales available. Set on two floors it serves food and its interior is traditional for an inner city London pub but slightly plusher than your average back street hole, however the traditional look is very in keeping with the historic Victorian trading centre appearance of the immediate area.

My favourite place in London. Stopped in two or three times while in town. Great selection of casks (8-10 at a time). Gets pretty busy at midday and at quitting time. The beers I had were well-cared for and well selected. Fairly diverse selection of cask ales. There were also a small number of Meantime beers on tap. Decent selection of food as well.

Located in the extremely active market area. I visited a few consecutive days and each time new beers were being offered which was great as they were all new to me. Was very busy and seemed to attract a diverse crowd. Up there as one of my favourite pubs in London.

Nice pub close to the Borough Market with a broad - ever changing - selection of real ales. Gets very crowded during the market days. Absolutely worth a visit !

A very good place, if you can hit it when the suits are at work. Usually 8 to 10 different real ales. And there are so many other good pubs within a few blocks, not to mention Borough Market just across the way.
