I like the location (Southwark) and I have a beautiful picture from the road; very typical place. The best thing is that they have about 12 cask ales, and they change them very frequently. The staff has been quite helpful. It’s almost impossible to eat, as they close the kitchen at 3pm!!!

Beer quality has steadily improved over the years and you have been certain of a good condition beer here for a long while now. After the recent refurb the place is now clean and tidy and bigger and with more casks on. Some original features and atmosphere has been lost, but the gains are worth it. It is now less a market porter’s pub and more a trendy office worker / tourist pub. Weep for the dirty old pub, but welcome the new. O, and the food is now more expensive and a little more upmarket.

Good variety of casks, which frequently change (I went on Wednesday and Saturday, and there were only a couple of overlaps). Nice atmosphere, and friendly staff behind the counter.

Worth a wonder down if you’re on the South Bank, some decent beers, solid rather than exciting, weekday afternoon was busy so I can imagine how hellish it could be at weekends, food was basic but filling,

Ok english pub. Nothing special, but they offer a nice range of beers on tap. Taps change quickly, but when I visited only bitters and golden ales. At least have some dark stuff on tap. On friday afternoon this place is very crowded, but that definitely is good for the atmosphere. Always something to do.

Too busy when we went (we had to stand outside to drink), there were however 5 new beers to sample, which was good. Beer quality was good, and the beers on sales were top quality. Nice sorta place, provided you can fit inside. Note: I attempted ot vote n/A for food, but it will now not allow it.

Met up with the group here on 9-18-04. Had some good cask beers here but this place was PACKED and hotter than Hades. The service seemed good. Worth the trip out of the London Bridge tube stop.

Decent pub with a an awesome location. Nice massive fireplace at the rear and a selection of guest ales as broad as you’ll find anywhere. If there is one failing of the pub its that the beers never tend to have any aroma. Cask ales are not famous for aroma but this place despite having fresh beer doesn’t seem to deliver the goods on aroma. Favourite days of the week to go are Friday and Saturday when the Borough market is jumping.

I’ve been here a few times now, the approach through the old street market makes it interesting. The choice of beers has dropped off in recent years, but the atmosphere remains interesting. I always enjoy the bustle of the place and the beers tend to be interesting and in good nick.

Like this place a lot, and like it even better since they expanded the interior and more importantly increased the amount of casks which they have (over 10). Quality of the casks always seems to be quite good, but they must have a pretty good rotation of casks as its always pretty busy, especially on market days. A good place to try new beers.
