For some reason I really loved this place. Sometimes that’s what vacation will do for you I suppose. The beer selection was fairly wide though nothing really blew my mind. They tasted great in the context and moment though. Prices were what I expected for a Maui brewery, that is to say touristy.

(Visited 12/2010): Maui Brewing Co’s brewpub location is in the Kahana Gateway Center on Honoapiilani Highway. There is a good-sized parking lot in the plaza. The interior is open with a utilitarian look and feel. Brewing equipment is viewable behind glass, and there is a huge chalkboard that lists available beers. The bar is toward the rear of the space, and there is bench/table seating elsewhere. One cool aspect of the decor is lighting made out of kegs. The brewpub’s selection includes 9 house beers plus 2 guest taps. The Maui beers include most of the flagship offerings plus some more unique beers like a smoked hemp ale, mango wheat, jalapeno pepper Blonde and a Belgian Abbey. All of their beers are solid. Service on a weekday lunch was good. Both our server and the bartender were knowledgeable and friendly. Food at Maui is good as well. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and seafood dishes. Overall this spot was well worth the drive from the port, and I would recommend to anyone visiting the island.

Stopped by last week. Was seated at a picnic table in the middle of the floor with sun blasting through the skylight into the eyes of half our party. Nice selection of beer with a wide variety of styles. Apps and sandwiches were good, but quite pricey for what they were. The sliders were a decent value. Service was frustrating - our waitress was clueless on the beers and generally spaced out. The busser was pleasant and knowledgeable though.

Stopped here on our recent Maui trip as I love the coconut porter. The place has a sports bar feeling with most of the customers sitting around the bar. For beers, many available. I tried the Coconut Porter (which I love), Mango Weizen (Not so good), and the Belgium Abbey (Not worth trying). For food, we tried a few appetizers which were OK. The service was fast but the waitress seemed dis-interested. Overall, if you want some beer while on Maui it’s worth a visit.

Made 5 visits during my week in Maui. Great selection of beers with style information is posted on the wall in this industrial-like interior place. Outside is a bland looking strip mall that doesn’t cohere with the interior too well. Sports-bar feel is obvious with the numerous TV’s and occasionally boisterous & obnoxious fans who have had too many pints. Seems to have a more "locals only" feel than what I found at other restaurants given how I observed the bartenders treat the seemingly obvious locals vs. people like me with touristy clothing and a camera around my neck. Music was unbearably loud in the happy hour afternoon hours and evenings. There was a notable blue collar feel to the customer base that was here, even though it is in a nice area. Service ranged all over the place from atrocious to above average, and on one occasion we had to re-seat ourselves nearly twice because nobody would notice that we were seated in their section(s). And one of these occasions was at the bar, and the bartender was too interested in her conversation with a friend-customer even though I’m *certain* she saw us sit down. Food was very good and reasonable priced compared to the other options in the Kaanapali area. Fried Brie appetizer was rich and excellent with the little dipping sauce, pizza was above average, onion rings were unique, and even the veggie burger was good with smoked gouda and pesto sauce - so flavorful! The beer selection and food make this place worthwhile, but I recommend trying to go early in the day before it is noisy, and try to sit at the bar where (normally) you’re likely to be served quickly.

Was lucky enough to be within a five minute walk of the brewpub while we stayed here for the new year. Besides their three main beers they had around 10 or so seasonl offerings on. I tried as many as I could but there is only so much time one can spend away from the beach. I didn’t have any beer that I thought was bad, or even below average, actually. The mild was great, so was the Pale Ale. The food was a bit pricey, but very tasty and most seemed to be somehow cooked with beer. The place itself is sort of boring. It’s very wide open with very little character, but has a long bar to pull a stool up to. The staff was very friendly and made me feel like I’d been coming there for years. If you go you must try the homemade root beer. It’s absolutely fantastic. They also sell growlers which made drinking by the hotel pool much more enjoyable. I really enjoyed the time I spent here and will make sure to come back if I’m ever so lucky to find myself in Maui again.

The Brewpub at Kahana Gateway Center: Around 15 or more beers on tap, a good mixed and constantly rotating selection. The food was pretty neat too. Beers at $5 a pint down to $4 between 3 and 6pm. Some cracking beers here too.

Hidden away in the corner of a strip mall, nice looking place that goes along with the Hawaiian experience. Waiter was unkempt and ornery, asked a few questions about the beer and got short answers. Beer was good with some very unique beers with a local flare. Food was great and quick, along with the rest of the staff I encountered, except our waitress.

This place was not easy to find! For some reason in Lahaina, there are no addresses on any buildings, or at least I couldn’t see them. Long story short, we found it. The server was really cool, took his time and explained almost every one of the brews. The pizza was tasty but a bit over priced. Overall a pretty nice place with some tasty brews, make sure you have a navigation system on your car to find it!

Visited Maui, and this place for lunch back when it was called Fish & Game. 7-10 beers on tap and a different one on special depending on the day of the week. Unfortunately I only had time to sample one, Maui Pale Ale, which was quite good. The food was good as well. Maybe a tad expensive but everything is in Maui. Located in a small strip mall it wasn’t busy at all when we went. I really liked this place but I can’t think of much I didn’t like in all of Maui.
