This place was great. They had around 60 taps there and who knows how many bottles. I stopped by twice on a recent trip to Baltimore. On Saturday night it was very crowded and was difficult to get service. The bathroom was in a cigar bar beside Maxs so you smelled terrible when you went to take a leak. Went on Sunday and it was much more enjoyable. Not that crowded and they were not playing extremely loud muusic. Had alot of Stone, Dogfish Head, Thristy Dog, local stuff, and a rediculous amount of belgian beers. If you at Fells Point, you need to drop by. Also if you take the water taxi you get a coupon for a buy one get one free coupon.

I live in DC and Max’s is just a quick trip up I-95. Located in a trendy neighborhood called Fells Point, Max’s looks like just another bad from the outside. Inside there’s plenty of seating, a bunch of TV’s and a long, wood bar. The staff is very friendly and many are knowledgeable about the products they served. Haven’t had a chance to try their food yet, but there are excellent food options up and down the block. The two times I’ve been to Max’s they were in the middle of either their Belgian fest or American Beer fest. Each time they had close to 100 separate Belgian or American beers on tap, with rotating kegs throughout the course of the fest. The bottle selection is just as diverse with plenty of hard time find labels like Struise, Mikkeller, Fantome, etc etc etc. They even offer carry out on their bottle selection, a very nice perk. All in all, world class selection makes this a must stop when in Baltimore and even when you’re not.

Great beer bar. Excellent barkeeps. Awesome selection. You can sample beers, they’ll split up a pint amongst 3 or 4 different beers for the price of a pint! Prices are reasonable. Could lose a few macros, but I guess they gotta cater to everyone. Food is just so-so, but who cares!

Great place, great bartender & what a selection. Ten Fidy on tap!!! Two Italian Micros on tap. Every bottle you can almost imagine. Great appetizers (Pulled Pork Nachos & Crab Artichoke Dip) Bartenders Jamie & Jason were great. Too many Mileer & Coors Neons if had to find one thing wrong. But the selection.............

This place is fantastic. I spent the last month in Baltimore, and was there twice a week at least. Upon entering, you are greated with their ever-changing list of whats on tap (35-70 beers on any given night) which run the gambit from barely wine to pilsners, lambics to imperial pale ales. Hand pumps, too. I never even got to the bottles, but rest assured there are plenty. The food is pretty good, a little above typical bar food. The bar tenders were never anything but nice to me, although they are certainly more patient on a week night than 11pm on a Saturday (but what bartender isnt?) And if your a pint glass collector, be sure to check out their website for more info on the pinch-the-pint Wednesday happy hour special.
No more Cigars, though. Maryland’s smoking ban went into effect Feb 1st, 2008.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, and the bar was filled up with a diverse clintele watching NFL Ticket. Bottle/Tap line-up is amazing, and vintage beers are also seldom seen in other bars. Beers prices were very reasonable. I too wish this bar was in my neighborhood.

Atmosphere of an old dive bar: darts, plenty of beer signs, cigarrettes, and general cowboy and sports-bar ambiance. Casey was happy to talk beer, new imports, cool random stuff, etc. for a good long while with us even though the place was packed. Thoroughly excellent selection with seemingly unbeatable prices (for six reasonably hard to find, and stellar, beers on tap, our bill was $29.99). A must stop.

Stopped in on a Sunday night after a Ravens game (I did not go, just happened to be in town). Bartender immediately mentions that they may have about 8 drafts that were gone and apologized- now that’s being on top of it. He also made sure my glass was never empty, and they were rather busy. The ambience fits it to the whole Fells Point vibe- historic and rustic neighborhood tavern. Nice rotating tap selection as well as lots of bottles. They even have a vintage cooler with all the Harvest and Old Stock Ale vintages listed by year! Nothing fancy here, just a friendly semi-dive bar with a great selection of beer. Just how I like it.
