Stopped in just to grab some bottles to share with family and spent far too long in here. Lots of taps, tons of bottles. Prices were fair.

Nice ambiance. Full of real beer drinkers. Service was just ok but friendly. Great selection on draft and in bottles. Seemed cheap for everything I had. Sure to be my first stop in Baltimore from now on.

Besides throwing an awesome Belgian beer festival with a ridiculous amount of beers on tap, Max’s is just a great beer bar. Awesome tap and bottle selection, great prices (especially the daily specials on bottles), great and friendly service, and a relaxed, spacious bar area. The selection had plenty of rarer tap-only beers and imports, with an extensive and top-notch selection of belgian bottles. Definitely beets anything here in DC. When going back to Baltimore, this will be priority number one.

I really loved this place. Most taps are top notch classics or rarities. Had 3 Italian beers of interest (Birrifico Trol, Grado Plato, Nora), as well as some heavy hitters (barley wines, strong ales). Bottle menu has some rare offerings too. The menu was typical pub fare. The place is big, with a local tavern look. Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. If you take the Water taxi day pass, they will give you coupons, one of which will give you a 2 for 1 (applicable on most beers, including most of the imports).

Visited Max’s for their Belgian Beer Fest ’09, so my ratings may be a bit jaded. Nice pub decor, lots of beer memorabilia, many countries represented. Large front bar, a smaller one in the back, and yet another upstairs. It was the Saturday afternoon/night session of the BBF so the place was PACKED, but service was very fast and friendly. The amount of Belgians on tap and in bottles was staggering... the Trappist burger was pretty good, as well. Will have to revisit during a normal weekend, but my first experience was awesome! Also worth mentioning is that they are now non-smoking.

Came all the way down from NC to visit in laws, so we decided to check out Maxs. Could not wait. Great selection of on taps and huge selection of bottles. How were they? Would not know, stood up at the bar for 10-15 minutes, raised my hand to bar keeps several times. Forget service at the table. Complete and udder assholes. Too bad, great beer, shitty service. Avoid at all cost.

A neighborhood bar, times ten! A huge selection of beers on bottle/tap, pretty damn good food (I had a bacon cheeseburger), a good amount of plasma TVs and an overall nice place. I highly recommend this place next time anyone’s in Baltimore (Fells Point).

Had a great session here one afternoon with some buddies who took the day off work to drink beer. Long and varied tap and bottle lists make for great reading... It’s easy to make a sort of drinking plan for yourself while sipping on your first one. Great prices considering what’s on offer. Wings and burgers were not great, but who cares? Friendly barman. Hope to get back here someday.

Made my first visit to Max’s Taphouse on May 30th, 2008 during my trip to see the Sox in Baltimore. Our initial reason for going was the ’largest selection of beer’ mantra they displayed and the buy 1 get one pint free coupon that comes with the Ed Kane’s water taxi. GREAT OFFER by the way. The Bartender on Friday was very knowledgable and was always paying attention to all the bar customers to make sure they were full. Great service Friday night. Asked us what beers we liked, etc and offered up some local suggestions and even let us sample a few of his favorites. I originally wanted a JW Lees Barley Wine, but he told me about the Magic Hat Chaotic 2000, let me sample and WOW what a selection that was. Helped explain to girlfriend a few of the local brews and compared them to one’s she knew. Very helpful. Are second trip was Sunday following the game and it was signiciantly more busy but the staff was on top of things. a little slow on the food service (had to order up at the bar) but the bartenders brought it to your table. Got the Queso and chips app (good stuff with a fantastic bite to it! good burgers (chili burger here) and she got shroom burger, all fairly reasonably priced. Would go back to and have told others about it also. TIP: Hot days, sit in the back near the pool tables, Air Conditioning is very cold in that area.

This place was great. They had around 60 taps there and who knows how many bottles. I stopped by twice on a recent trip to Baltimore. On Saturday night it was very crowded and was difficult to get service. The bathroom was in a cigar bar beside Maxs so you smelled terrible when you went to take a leak. Went on Sunday and it was much more enjoyable. Not that crowded and they were not playing extremely loud muusic. Had alot of Stone, Dogfish Head, Thristy Dog, local stuff, and a rediculous amount of belgian beers. If you at Fells Point, you need to drop by. Also if you take the water taxi you get a coupon for a buy one get one free coupon.
