As far as Tennessee beer selection is concerned, McScrooge’s has always been my go to store in town for high grav’s. Over the past year their beer aisle expanded, and just recently they were able to start selling low gravity beer as well. This is excellent news to me! Now they have hundreds of different beers to choose from and I’ve never found craft beer cheaper elsewhere in town.
On an extra side note, they have been able to get some nice craft Kegs for me (at totally reasonable pricing). I would highly suggest them if you live around Knox and need a keg. I just call them ahead of time and they hold it for me until my parties. 10/10 awesome store (and they have a killer scotch selection, which is an added bonus)

A place that truly tries to keep up with the high gravity market. With the crazy tax laws of our state that is a task. The selection is the best in Knoxville. Friendly staff always willing to help. Very good selection the go to place in Knoxville.

This place was a really lucky find for me. I was recommended to go to this place because the nice fellow there at Bearden Beer Market mentioned that it is the best place to get high gravity beers in Tennessee. Due to Tennessee law only liquor stores can carry high gravity beers (aka high ABV) and this place does have a really nice selection considering it is also a large liquor store. Very nice place and I am glad I could add it to rate beer for those in Tennessee that still may not know of this place.

What everyone else said - The staff is helpful and enthusiastic, but they are at the mercy of distributors. When The distributors are feeling generous, the selection here (of over 6% beers) is as good as anyone elses in Knoxville. One tip - try to plan a visit so that you will not have make a left turn in or out.

For the last 10 years, the largest selection of +6% beers in Knoxville liquor stores, and has improved tremendously in the last year and a half (2012-2013). Friendly and helpful staff. Brent is kind enough to keep all the local ratebeerians updated when new stuff arrives, and for years has been almost a single voice begging the wholesalers to bring mo’ bettuh high gravity beer to the area. They often get some rarer stuff in that isn’t available even in other parts of the country. They also are the only operator in Knoxville who seems to understand the concept of discounting older stock in order to move it on out.

Best beer selection in Knoxville, can get a little pricy, as much due to Tennessee laws as anything though. Brent and the staff mostly know their stuff on some of the beers. The wall of scotch constantly tempts me to spend more than I should.

If you are looking for some decent hard to find beers in Knoxville, this is the place. A good selection of De Dolle and several other Belgians. A huge selection of brewdog, dogfish head and j.w. lees beers. I swing by here when I am in Knoxville to see what is new.

Largest selection in Knoxville. Out of some of my favorite hi-gravs but considering distribution situation in Knoxville certainly not their fault.

Typical TN high-alcohol selection, with a handful of things I haven’t seen elsewhere (e.g., Baladin). Lately (summer 2006) their beer selection seems to have increased somewhat. I’ll usually stop by if I’m out in Cedar Bluff, but don’t usually make a special trip.
