This has to be the coolest Mellow Mushroom I’ve ever visited. It’s a wide open design with a large bar on the left hand side of the restaurant. They have about 30 regular taps and 15-20 regional seasonals written on a massive chalk board that runs the length of the bar along the ceiling. As with most Mellow Mushrooms the pizza is ghastly. they either overcook and burn the shit out of the crust or oversauce and it ends up soggy. If they’re really off their game you’ll get both on the same pie. This is also topped with an insane amount of Parmesan cheese. But beer is the key here and they have one of the best taprooms in the state.

This is hippie central with a very good beer selection for a pizza joint. They were offering Rogue Imperial Stout on draught along with a few other high alcohols. There are plenty of local brews to be had here and a decent amount of imports. Not my favorite place to come hang out, but probably just because Asheville is littered with above-par pubs and Mellow Mushroom also has a definite restaurant feel.

Stopped by here as I got to the LAB before it opened and this was a block away. Oddly, this is the first Mellow Mushroom I’ve been to that looks like I’d expect a MM to look. Almost psychedelic decor with Alice in Wonderland motif and a bunch of other brightly colored stuff. Didn’t eat. Big selection of beers with a heavy emphasis on local and a few rarities. Very nice and helpful bartender. Decent beer prices, parking lots nearby.

This place far exceeded my expectations. 70 beers on tap, including 4 or 5 from each of the great local breweries- Wedge, Pisgah, Highland, etc. Lots of other NC beers, too. Great waiter who never let our glasses get empty and talked us into an outstanding pizza. I’ve never been to a Mellow Mushroom before but will be back if I get the chance.

First time at a Mellow Mushroom. Great service and very tasty pizzas. Waitress was from Harrisburg, PA. She even brought me a couple of tasters of local stuff without me asking. Nice beer selection and decent prices.

This place was an afterthought on the beer scene in Asheville, but I checked it out anyway. Boy was I wrong. Great selection of local brews from Pisgah, Catawba Brewing, Sweetwater, Highland Brewing, and more. If you come to Asheville looking for beer check this place out. They have pretty decent pizza too. Nice patio out front. This is the best mellow Mushroom I have visited.

Many more tap than Augusta!

This is a cool Mellow Mushroom with good pie and a great draft selection. Our server was nice, but a space cadet, and took forever. Still, we had fun (once we were attended to), and enjoyed the pizza and beer.

A bit above average than your typical Mellow Mushroom. I did find it odd that with such a nice amount of "shroom" decor, they did not have the ’mels’ and ’femels’ bathrooms, which I thought was a staple for mm’s. The pizza was not quite as good as other locations, but the beer selection was well above par, with a terrific selection of locals, regionals, and seasonals. The patio outside is a great way to enjoy a slice and brew while doing some hippie-watching. Just be prepared to share your meal with the birds - they’ll eat it right out of your hand!
