86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 thorongil2 (16) , Ontario | September 13, 2011 Located in a purely industrial area, it is clear that most people drive there, it is nevertheless accessible on foot (#2 bus can take you there from downtown). Small, modern, minimalistic, informal second floor ’beer loft’ where people line up to buy beer to go and where you can sit down and try the products. Small food menu, good food though (excellent taco special on Tue). Attentive service. No charge for samples. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 tomciccateri (115) Albuquerque, New Mexico | January 16, 2011| Updated February 2, 2011 Spotted 18 taps behind long bar with no stools. Dozen small aluminum and light wood tables and chairs in second floor loft area. Great view mountains if you ignore the industrial equipment and warehouses in the neighborhood. no smoking. Beer magazines around. Well lit with brightly painted walls with beer posters and framed beer paintings. Light food of sandwiches and daily specials, including green chili and posole! Popular place on weekends. $20+ taxi ride from downtown. Great beer selection. Brewery and small sales office on ground floor. Elevator available. Slow WiFi. Tours Thursdays.
| 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Phischy (57) California | August 2, 2010| Updated February 2, 2011 Crazy selection of their beers. Since I can’t get them all the time I was surprised to see Gluttony still available, and it tasted fresh! Not sure if they’re re-brewing some of their older beers.
Had the brewer’s platter w/ meat. Very tasty and quite a bit of food, good to share for 2. They limit total pours to 36 oz so my buddy and I split up as many tasters as we could to cover most of what they had on tap.
I pretty much enjoyed most of their beer, which is a very rare treat. MSBC is the real deal and I hope they do very well in the future. Esp with expanded distrobution down to San Diego. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 MaltOMeal (26) Land of Sugar, Texas | July 13, 2010| Updated February 2, 2011 Stopped here on Thursday evening as it was a main point to visit as I love Midnight Sun brews. Had set up a person-to-person trade with one of the brew crew. The Loft is adequate, nothing fancy, with seating available to sit and eat while trying different brews. They had a large selection of Midnight Sun taps open. I think we tried four, including a black IPA and a quad. They even gave you a choice of glass sizes to order beer in with associated price difference. I love how these guys just keep pushing out new, interesting concoctions. The food was fantastic. We took a tour of the brewery too. Was surprised by how small it was, considering how many different brews they have available at any given time. This place is definitely worth a visit. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 nbutler11 (301) Phoenix, Arizona | June 19, 2010| Updated February 2, 2011 Very ambitious new setup. Tons of taps, bottles, swag, and snacks. A bit too polished for my taste -- almost like they’re pushing too hard to go commercial -- but the taste level is there and the beer is certainly on point. A bit expensive, too, but definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 bvc (61) Kenmore, Washington | January 18, 2010| Updated February 2, 2011 Stopped in a couple of times over GABBF weekend. First stop was Friday afternoon. Not far off the highway and located in a very industrial area. The building stands out though, not only because of the logo on the garage door, but it is clearly the newest structure in the area. Enter on the lower level at the opposite end from the brewery where they have a few tap options and a glass front tall cooler loaded with bottles. I imagine they use this area on the weekends or something, but it wasn’t open so we headed up stairs to the loft. Nice clean minimal, metal and concrete industrial feel to it. Small little kitchen in the middle that just opened that week, with plenty of seating and the bar located on the opposite wall. We got lucky and they pulled many of the regular releases to have such things on as Sloth, Oaked Monk’s Mistress on Nitro and Good MoJo. Bar is flanked on the ends with merchandise on one end and a cooler lager than the one down stairs with all the bottle offerings including some in larger format. They do offer a discount on a case of bottles. Draft options had 2-3 size offerings and service was fantastic. They do also have some nice large windows that just past the industrial neighboring lots, offer great views of the mountains. We didn’t have food either day, but they do offer fresh soups, some sandwiches and quite a bit of sharing/snack food. Only wished we would have made it in earlier on Thursday for the tour. Great facility and a must stop. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 Aggy360 (10) Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska | April 4, 2009| Updated May 31, 2009 Wow, the new place is great! There is a lot more room. You can SIT and drink a few beers now. There is a nice line of taps so the selection has gone way up from the 6 in the old warehouse. I still need to go on the new tour of the brewing facility but this is a major set up from the old place. I can’t wait until they get the kitchen up and going for food and beer. Good Job MSBC!!! | 66 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 CMUBEERMAN (49) Madison, Wisconsin | August 27, 2008| Updated May 31, 2009 Pretty good selection to take home. Not incredibly friendly and prices for a couple of bottles were higher than the stores. They also charge for samples...even if you buy more than $140 worth of shit. Their beer is good though. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 josarah (101) Hinesburg, Vermont | August 11, 2008| Updated May 31, 2009 These guys are great, we got there at noon, not realizing that they don’t open until 3pm. No problem they opened the door and took great care of us. It’s not fancy, but who cares the beer is great and the people could not have been nicer. Oh yea and the beer is awesome. All of their bottled beers were avaible refrigerated. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 savnac (224) Anchorage, Alaska | July 31, 2008| Updated July 6, 2012 Update for the new facility. WOW, what an upgrade. Located in an industrial area that can be hard to find the first time. Ambiance is industrial with a sleek, modern, clean look with lots of concrete, brick and steel. Great service, they keep 2-3 people pouring during peak hours. Selection is great, up to 16 beers on tap, 4 sodas and a cooler full of 22oz bombers of core and seasonal beers. You can also get kegs and growlers filled although some of the special beers on tap are "buy the glass only". Value is good. Overall this is a great place. You are limited to 36oz per person to consume on site because of some dumb city or state law. |
