We visited on the Wednesday night before CBC and the Sunday night after it, I’m sure this is an entirely different place when it’s crowded, but it was chill and mellow for both of our visits. Staff were terrific, and the beer, of course was very good. Pricey, but that’s to be expected. Around CBC, this was the Who’s Who hangout for brewers and beer personalities.

superb tap list for sure, though not being a huge fan of Mikkeller leaves me fewer options. vintage bottles were either all gone on my visit due to fest-goers in town, or the staff simply blew me off (read: lied) about availability likely because they’ve been hounded in recent days for vintage bottles. so, if you know the secret handshake or perhaps grab the bartender’s time and bug them enough, you’ll have good luck. but if they tell you something is out, they’re likely not being completely honest. that’s how it goes, though. ambiance would be better if it weren’t packed with beer geeks all the time.

Really small bar with 20 taps on and an enormous bottle list. Fun little place, but get there early or you’ll be struggling to find a place to sit or stand. Friendly service, half decent prices, and they will do small sample sized pours which is nice. They do have some little snacks at the bar, but nothing you could really make a meal of.

It’s difficult to know what to say about the Mikkeller bar. We visited several times during the Copenhagen Beer Festival week and probably saw it at both its best and its worst. There was a real buzz – it was like being at a private party with all your favourite beer friends and for me this was great but, had I not known anyone there, I think I’d have felt a little excluded. It was also very crowded, with people spilling out into the street (and being corralled back in again when the police arrived asking us to keep the noise down), and there can’t be a lot of space at the best of times. The bar is in an unassuming basement quite close to the fabled red light district. There are two rather bare, minimalist rooms with a few tables and a couple of nooks and crannies at the back. There’s a high bar and low lighting. Needless to say, the beer on offer is outstanding. The 20 beers are listed on the blackboard – mainly Mikkeller with a few tremendous guests. (Last visited 5 May 2014).

Small basement bar not far from the Station and in the hotel area of town. Very popular with tourists, has a good range of beers on and a huge bottle list. Beer was top drawer, served by folk who knew what they were talking about. Prices a bit steep. I prefer the new venue but a must if in Copenhagen

We visited on a Sunday afternoon post CBC where a mini street festival was being held outside Mikkeller Bar. It wasn’t actually super busy at the bar suprisingly, and our group managed to grab seats at an outside table. No doubt the taplist is impressive, and even moreso the bottle list, but expect to throw your weekly wage at it to try a few bottles. The food vendors were great and it was a nice vibe here and relaxing come down after CBC. Thankfully I missed the madness of the previous nights here, as experiences will vary dramatically at this bar.

Visited half a dozen or so times, most recently during RBESG ’15 during August. Small bar about a ten minute walk from the main station and also close to Warpigs and Fermentoren. Sunken slightly below street level the original Mikkeller bar dispenses 20 taps of beer with usually about half or a little more being from Mikkeller. The guests are usually solid picks and can be from anywhere in the Craft beer world including Danish micros. A small, exclusive and of course expensive bottle selection supplements the tap lines. If you ask you can get small pours of the keg beers. The bar itself is rectangular and pretty small, probably seats no more than 30 people and can become crowded easily. Stripped back and bare in its appearance. Service has always been prompt and knowledgeable on my visits. Food Is in the form of bar snacks such as cured meats. Overall I love the intimacy of this bar compared to friends ... just time your visit away from peak times.

Yes, this place has phenomenal selection, in bottles and on draft. You thought bottles of Hill Farmstead were only available at the brewery? They have about six different HF beers here. The draft selection is great. The prices are pretty high given that most beers come in small (i.e. about a 1/3 of a pint) pours, while the cost stays at about what you would normally pay for a half or even, in some cases, a full pint. The place itself, though, leaves a bit to be desired. It’s pretty small, the limited seating fills up quickly and then there really isn’t much room to stand. On a Saturday night (weekend of CBC) they had only three guys working the bar (this might be the max given that the bar is tiny), which resulted in waiting times of 20-30 minutes to get a beer. To me, that’s a pretty bad wait to get a beer. I’m sure that in the afternoon this bar is perfect for sitting and enjoying a beer, but with the nighttime crowds it’s intolerable. The bartenders were pleasant, though. I would definitely come back here, but probably never after 6pm or so.

Awesome place with 20 rotating taps of always interesting stuff. Usually about 10 Mikkellers and 10 guest taps. In the evenings, it can be uncomfortably crowded, so try to go during the afternoon if you can. Bottle list is epic as well, with actually fairly reasonable prices. Draught prices are steep, but about average for Denmark. Service is always very friendly. Certainly a top tier world-class bar that can be quite chaotic. An absolute must stop when in Copenhagen.

Visited multiple times during CBC week. The bar’s located in a convenient location not far from the center of town. Located in a basement location, it’s small but well decorated. The ambience is nice and relaxed. The service is prompt if you actually get to the bar. While I didn’t find to much trouble ordering, a friend of mine spent 20 or 30 minutes waiting to get served on Saturday night. Obviously a few more staff wouldn’t hurt at peak times. Another friend tried to order a bottle from the cellar and was rebuffed as it was ’too busy’. The selection is truly fantastic if you ignore the prices. Bottles include vintage Dark Lord, Hill Farmstead, Blabaer, and other rare sours. I enjoyed expensive pours from the likes of Three Floyds, Girardin, and of course Mikkeller while I was there. The food menu is small - just cheese and sausage. It is pretty tasty, though. Overall, a very good bar that I’m sure I’d visit often if I lived in Denmark. If they hired a few more staff members, this place would be legitimately world class.
