I’ve been thinking quite a lot on how to rate this place. It’s a nice set of rooms, knowledgable, friendly and service-minded staff, and the selection is insane. Still, there’s something, something that I couldn’t really put my finger on for a few days, but it finally struck me; the selection is too extremely world class! That, and the fact that I visitied after a long night of drinking beers at a beer festival, and also after the the third day at the beer festival, probably made it feel like something were "wrong". That’s also why I’ve waited so long adding this review. I’ve always known that I would return the next time in Copenhagen, and as you can see from my score, so should you. It’s insane how many wonderful beers Mikkel have been able to present at the bar, and three months after the grand opening, it doesn’t seem to stop either. I could maybe wish for a slightly broader range of session beers, that’s it. An excellent place indeed!

Minimalistic bright design. Great service and atmosphere which makes you feel very welcome and leaves you with a sense of ’coming home’. Over 70 different Mikkeller brews. Great selection of beers from Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belgium and the US. The 15 brews on tap varies from day to day. One of my favorite places.

The best bar for beer enthusiasts I’ve visited. Small place with minimalistic but stylish interior. A few tables and chairs on the pavement outside, in a quiet Vesterbro side street. Friendly and knowledgable barman on the (fairly quiet) evening I was there. Surprisingly young clientele. Fifteen beers on tap, all of them interesting (and many of which had been replaced on my second visit three days later). Stupenduous selection of bottled beers, although the most sought-after were sold out. Carefully selected range of beer snacks.

This is the story of the Copenhagen happiness vampire. In the dungeonesque, black and white po-mo basement of Mikkeller’s bar lurks a happiness vampire. Copenhagen makes me happy. Beer makes me happy, but this guy successfully killed the happiness buzz of four young people on holiday. The Copenhagen happiness vampire was not friendly, was not knowledgeable, and was not even good at pouring beer. He had the appearance of being drunk or high, or possibly a combination of both, and taking people’s orders seemed to stress him out. The real tragedy is that the beer here is delicious, and that we would have loved to stay for several more, but life is too short to deal with bad customer service, especially when there are other bars in town with great service that also have delicious beer. Also, I would like to note that I would gladly have given this bar a 0 for service, were it not for the fact that the bar manager who was going off duty as we arrived was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If only every employee at this bar were as good as him... ***I will add a rerate on the strength of the management. While my original rating stands, I will add that if you have a happiness vampire as your bartender, then the kind and gracious management will try their best to make amends. And this says a lot about their commitment to customer service.

Probably the best beer bar in Copenhagen with mostly Mikkeller beer but also several other micro brews. And what is best: The beer selection changes as tabs empty out, so you’d be very hard pressed to try all beers available on a given night. Therefore and since half beers are about the same value, just ask for small beers!

The best looking bar in Copenhagen. I love the fact that for once, attention has been given to the appearance of a beer bar. The Mikkeller bar appears very light and seems bigger than it actually is. I like this - so many great beer bars are very dark, which can be OK obviously, if you’re talking to very ugly looking people, but I really prefer being able to see what’s going on in the bar without having to stress my eyes. The beer selection is faboulous. The bottle selection is great with so many hard-to-get beers that one just can’t find anywhere else. Some of them are a bit pricey, though, but given the rarity that’s just the way it goes. The draught beer selection is the finest in Denmark, quite possibly in Northern Europe: 10 taps with Mikkeller beers, regulars and specials. And 5 taps with an ever-changing line of the best beers from the US (where else do you get 3F on tap outside the US?) and Europe, including lambic. And the beers on tap are very modestly priced, also. A great place that has now become my regular beer bar in Copenhagen.

Small place with 2 rooms and a bar in the middle, half basement. Nice furniture and decorations, white and modern. 15 beers on tap, 10 Mikkeller - 5 other micros. all hard to get anywhere else. Friendly staff, some of them with a good beer knowledge. Pleasant music kept at a sensible noise level. No soccer transmission at this WC (but you could see something on a small laptop inside the bar..). The beers are in focus here. We even met Mikkel this evening.

Visited at the time of the Copenhagen Beer Festival and it was extremely busy and a bit uncomfortable as a result. I then went back to make another visit when it was much quieter and it was a lot more pleasant and relaxing. The selection is incredible and most styles are represented. The prices are on the steep side, but then again, I don’t mind paying for quality. Without doubt, this place has enhanced the already fantastic beer scene in Copenhagen.
