World’s best beer bar?
It probably is, although it’s closest competitor is merely a few blocks away.
A must visit in Copenhagen... even worth going to Copenhagen for!

Another instance of the beer-geeky Mikkeller bars in Copenhagen. Follows the same recipe as the others - plain interiour, lots of taps with only really good stuff. This is quite a small place, but at least when I visited (after CBC14) it felt like a carnival. Partly as there was some sort of neighbourhood street- even going on just in the corner where the bar is, with music and street food and everything. And also as this was just the day after the last CBC session, and a lot of the brewers/representatives from all the breweries seem to have flocked to this place. But awesome selection. Friendly staff. Nice place.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon post CBC where a mini street festival was being held outside Mikkeller Bar. It wasn’t actually super busy at the bar suprisingly, and our group managed to grab seats at an outside table. No doubt the taplist is impressive, and even moreso the bottle list, but expect to throw your weekly wage at it to try a few bottles. The food vendors were great and it was a nice vibe here and relaxing come down after CBC. Thankfully I missed the madness of the previous nights here, as experiences will vary dramatically at this bar.

Located near the central station on a nice and comfy street, MV viktoria is one of the best beer pubs I’ve ever been to. Very good service, excellent selection, quick rotation of the beers and nice beer snacks :) It’s a bit pricy thou, but I guess that comes with a really good place.

Great selection of beers on tap that rotate quickly. Mostly Mikkeller with a few others from top European and US breweries. Extensive bottle list with some real gems and some extremely expensive beers. I’ve been able to drink several rare sours here on my visits. The main downside is how small this place is. During events it gets extremely crowded with long waits to get in an order. The plus side of that is you’re surrounded by lots of other beer lovers! Definitely one of the best bars in the world.

Visited multiple times during 2012-2014. Really small place, I wish it was a bit bigger, as during CBC madness it can get quite crazy with massive amount of people which leads to long wait times and no place to sit down. The tap selection is usually pretty great, but the bottle selection is simply unreal with loads of beers impossible to find anywhere else and vintages. Prices are quite expensive, though, especially on the rarer offerings. On a nice quiet afternoon visit this is probably one of the best beer bars anywhere.

The selection of beers are almost always awesome, that’s the best part of this place, the rest is so-so. Prices are on the steeper side. The service is mostly confined to serving beer and charging money for it. It’s packed with (self-proclaimed cool-)people most of the time and the decor is sparse to say the least.

Visited during the CBC week. First thought I had was that I walked into a garage box filed with barrel aged hipster douches. When I looked beyond the massive crowd, who were apparently trying to break the world record for fitting as many hipsters as possible in a toilet, I found one poor bartender working his ass of. This bar was clearly not ready for serving more than two people, which led to a massive queue. I stood in line for 10 minutes, trying to find some sort of list of the Three Floyds beers they had, which they hadn’t. After 10 minutes I found myself standing at the exact same spot as where I started and my hipster allergies started kicking in. Got out as quickly as possible and went back later that night. It was more quiet than before and we actually got served. We payed a massive amount for two samples and got out again because of my allergies. Really not getting all the high ratings for this garagebox.
Above was written a few days before my third visit and I have to adjust my rating a bit, still will leave my previous rating as well. Third time we visited was on a Saturday just after opening. It was quiet and there was plenty of time to chat with the barkeeper and browse some amazing beers. Still the prices are rediculous at least, way to overpriced for small samples. Got a bottle of Calvados Beer Geek Brunch Weasel and that was amazing. Eventually the Moscatel Dark Lord made up most of my irritations about this bar. Unfortunately we sat there for about two hours and it got quite busy in that time. Luckily we were on our way anyway. Will defintely revisit when I visit Copenhagen outside of CBC.
