Nice traditional pub located in the city centre. Good range of handpull.

5 casks. Lots of room. Maze inside. Alright service. Good location on Rose St.

Traditional Scottish bar with 5 Scottish real ales on tap. Satisfactory service. OK place & worth a visit if you are in the vicinity but not a place to go out of your way for.

This has gone WAY downhill, it used to be one of the places to visit on a Edinburgh crawl, both for atmosphere and quality beer. It now has neither, a depressing vault of a bar, dark and unpleasant. The beer was hazy and while it wasn’t off I actually left it. I suggest you walk on by, and go to the Abbotsford just along Rose Street.

The pub has 2 entrances, a basement entrance on Hanover Street and a regular entrance at Rose Street, which is far more easy to find. Several beers are on tap at the two levels, so i had to move along the pub to taste some. Food was decent pub food, not the greatest selection, but well made.
