Nice enough Nicholson’s pubs near the Cambridge city centre. Eight real ales on in reasonable condition, some less common ones anonymity ’usual suspects’. Restaurant-style food service in the slightly more upmarket back of the pub.

A pretty standard Nicholson’s pub in central Cambridge. I like this company’s pubs, as they almost always tend to have a very respectable range of ales and the pubs themselves are always well-kept. This example was no exception, and its location and large front windows afford it great natural light and views of some rather fetching vistas of the world outside. Friendly staff, typical pricing, free wi-fi. It’s easy to visit this pub given its central locus, so i would recommend a visit as you stroll through Cambridge. As a bonus, the bottle shop Cambridge Wine Merchants is just a few doors down.

This place used to be so good 15 years ago. Not any more though, since the Nicholsons revamp. Still has 8 real ales on cask, but apart from that it’s a pretty soulless place to drink.
