This place is my speed! In the Mission, so totally not pretentious. Just a good feel with the worn out wood and the cool ornate mantle behind the bar. The service here is the best Iíve ever had. The best. In every conceivable way. The best. The beer selection is incredible. The have food, but I didnít eat. Too much beer to occupy my time.
Nice little place with around 35 beers on tap. Very high quality. The service was prompt and very friendly. Everybody in our group was very satisfied with the food. Deserts were excellent too. The only down side is the prices. $9.5 before tax and tips is a lot to pay for a ~35cl beer. Food was expensive too
Good selection, but a bit snooty. We were there for "sour fest" which was cool, but the guy at the door didnít even let us in until table space had cleared up inside (itís a bit small). Brought to mind a cramped, crimped version of Moeder Lambic in Brussels.
Pretty crowded when we visited but still worth the effort. We managed to score a couple of bar stools and had an IPA flight with excellent service and explanation of beers tasted. A really good venue for anyone interested in trying different breweries and beer styles in the one location.
I caught Monks at the perfect a time, a couple days after a sour event and a Societe event. Needless to say, the taps were extremely strong. I would need to visit during a non sf beer week to see how it is. Either way, service was fast, friendly and knowledgable. Seating is a bit of challenge int the cramped lay out. I didnít eat but the food looked like generic pub fare. I had a blast and would be back, especially for their vintage bottle list.
Great beer selection coming off of a sour beer festival. Prices were pretty high and service was a little snobby. We rolled in with a group of 8 people at 3 pm on a Saturday excited to enjoy the establishment. The place was less than half full with many open tables and we were told, in a snobby manor, we couldnít sit down and have a beer inside except for squeezing in at the bar (which isnít doable with a large group) because we werenít planning on ordering entrees. They said they might be able to fit us in outside because their food policy was a little more relaxed out there but emphasized that we really should order a good deal of food because they werenít just a bar, they were also a restaurant. At this point, we almost left but decided to stay for a quick ($80) round of beers and a couple appetizers. I was planning on ordering more but didnít want to be made to feel like a dick for how much/little we wanted. When we left the place was still half empty. Canít say that I will ever go back despite the amazing selection. Iíd rather give my money to an establishment who treats me well, especially at the price premium. Maybe the staff was just having an off day and didnít communicate the policy well? I hope so.
Super small, very quaint spot with a decent tap list and a solid bottle selection as well. Burger was a little above average. Service was much to be desired. Waitress was a bit smug. Just didnít see what everyone else does in this place.
