Arrived just before last call and happy we managed to hang around for a bit. Very solid beers and the guy working was great in explaining the beers and enthusiastic. Basic taproom with little by way of tables and chairs but no worry, worth stopping by for the beers.

Nice brewery with a small tasting room, next to The Flying Barrel homebrew shop. Stopped in with Travlr and nate2g after finding out the coffee shop across the street was closed. We came in at last call but the guy working the tasting room was happy to let us get a tasting. Tasting includes a 3-4 oz sample of their five drafts, one at a time though. Tasting glass is yours to keep. Nice variety of styles and all pretty well done. Well worth a stop.

Large place in what looked like an old paper or fabric mill, large sign that said "The Flying Barrel," I think, with only a tiny sign on the glass door that said Monocacy. Although the website said you need tickets to join a tour and tasting, they easily accommodated walk-ins. 5 bucks gets you the tour, five beers on tap and a tasting glass. We skipped the tour actually. The beers were OK, and included a couple I hadnít seen before. We also bought a case of four kinds of Brewers Alley beers, since all Brewers Alley beers are now brewed here at Monocacy, the small system at Brewers Alley is no longer used. Stupid Maryland laws donít allow you to mix six packs, only cases. Iím sure they have a reason for this, but the reason escapes me. Worth a stop. 4-9-8-n/a-7-14 70.
Re-rate March 2015. Beers have improved, with greater variety. Barstaff very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Now a must-stop when in Frederick.

Small brewery that offers tours on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Pretty typical brewery tour walking you through the brewing area describing the brewing process. Only costs $5 which includes a take-home tasting glass and samples at the end of the tour. Brewerís Alley beers are brewed here, so expect those choices to be on tap at the end of the tour. Tasting room is small and simple, but the use of construction materials used are pretty interesting.

Went there for the brewery tour - hidden away in part of an old ice cream factory. Tasting room is bare bones - just a bar and a bathroom. This is pretty much only here for the brewery tour. $5 dollars for the glass and samples of the beer, good deal. Staff are great people, really personable, enjoyable to chat with.

Tour at the brewery. Staff is excellent -friendly, knowledgable, and passionate about beer (good beer). At $5, a great value to sample beers in the tap room as well as during the tour. Selection is a little limited but I would expect that may change over time. Ambiance? Itís an old factory converted to brewing beer -- perfect for what it is. Very nicely done-- recommend that people visit and support Monocacy.

I did the tour a month ago, I think they only do it once a month. Nice bar area, everything is made from recycled goods. Brewer for Brewerís Alley gave the tour, very informative. Facility use to be a ice cream plant. You get samples at the end and a small glass to take home ($5). Canít wait to see MBC bottles in the store soon!
