Well, I see no evidence that this place brews their own beers. They have a good selection of locals from Montana, Idaho and even Wyoming, but nothing that they can call their own. Doing a hopping brisk business on a Tuesday night, but still managed to be attentive and prompt. Beerlist is nothing special from a world-traveler perspective, but the locals are nice. Food as solid as well. Had a bit of a chainy fell, which was a drawback.
Montana Ale Works is at the eastern end of Main Street in downtown Bozeman. The building is long and large and still gets pretty crowded. Let me also start by stating that THIS IS NOT A BREWPUB, as it is listed. They donít make their own beer in house. Another place appears to have contracted some brews for them before, but none were available at the time and our waiter - who had an incredible knowledge of every beer on the menu - didnít know about them. The service overall is great; they put on the Cards-Giants game for me and our waiter couldnít have been better. The food is solid and a little overpriced. The beer list is very, very solid with a ton of Montana-brewed stuff. I would have spent a lot of time and money here if I could have done either of those things. A must-visit if you find yourself in Bozeman.
Didnít see any house beers or brewing facilities, so Iím not so sure this place is actually a brewpub. Having said that, they did have a nice selection of Montana beers and some other regional choices. Large building with a comfortable, modern interior. Food was better than expected, I got a sous vide pork tenderloin dish that really impressed me. Friendly, prompt service even on a busy Friday night. I would definitely come back.
Very big, cool, modern, clean place very near to downtown. Sat at the bar and had some beers and food, service was great. Very big selection of beers for a place in Montana, lots of Montana beers as well as other US micros. Food was really good but expensive. Beer was a bit pricey too compared to other places but the selection made up for it. A must stop if in Bozeman.
Great place for regional taps. They have a lot of Montana and NW beers and some California on occasion. With all those handles (at least 45) it would be nice to see just one Belgian on tap (they are now available to Montana restaurants in keg). Other than that, the food is great (try the Bison Potstickers) and the atmosphere is amazing!
Very open, nicely-appointed layout, which combined with a bar, restaurant and pool makes it a but loud. Still, itís nice and children are welcome. It appears this place is always busy. Service is very good and chatting with the bartender reveals a good depth and breadth of beer knowledge and yielded some good recommendations. I would guess that theyíre using a nitro/CO2 mix to power their kegs, which adds a pleasant creaminess to most pours. Food is very good and worth the trip for even non-drinkers. Selection is also excellent, with 3-4 choices in about ten different styles. A bit on the dear side, but the package is worth it. Must-see in Bozeman.
