Located near wvu in downtown. Large spacious area with a patio area for smokers. All old wood the brewery is right in the middle several rooms, two bars and an area for a band. Didnít eat and didnít look at the menu. They had 8 of their own beers on tap and liquor.decent offerings including a shandy. Rating could change if I eat there.

Stopped by here on my way to Maryland for my sisterís graduation. Cool-looking place. Spacious and charming. Very close to the river, with an awesome-looking deck that almost has a view of it. Service was great. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, and when I met one of the brewers he went out of his way to accommodate me. About a dozen or so house beers on tap, which were solid and interesting to try. Glad I stopped by.

An oasis of surprisingly good beers and food. Find yourself in town and I would suggest a visit. Their brown is especially impressive. Good food to boot.

The front room of this place has a large U-shaped bar, lots of tables, and a jazz band when we stopped by. Then you can walk into the brewery and turn right to find a smaller, more intimate bar. Selection is the same at both, so take your pick. Staff was terrific - Antonio steered us in the right direction and made sure we got a glass of the seasonal which wasnít on the menu. Beers were tasty. Didnít try the food, but I would return to do so. Nice stop.

I had stopped here for lunch on my way from Charlotte NC. The weekday lunchtime crowd was very light, but from looking at the layout of the building, it is very inviting. They have two bar inside the building, with each having about a dozen stools around them, plenty of tables for dining, several dart boards, pool table, and a decent sized back patio deck that kind of over looks the river. The quality of the beers were average as none of the beers stunk but didnt impress me either (had the sampler platter which has 8 samples on it). The servers and bartenders were friendly, attentive, and willing to talk beer (when time permitted). The selection of their beers was decent as they had 8 beers on tap (all made in house) and a good variety with no over lapping. The food was average, burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings, fries...my burger was a little dry and side of mac/cheese was nothing short of boxed mac/cheese but is wasnt the worst bar food either. When stopping in town to visit the WVU or taking in a game, stop in and knock the WVa beer and barfly reviews off your board, I did.

Really cool brewpub...spatious. reminds me a bit of an iron hill but more laid back. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Food was pretty good as was the beer and prices were good. Plus they have a PB beer. seems I had a better experience than many other visitors who rated the place...maybe they are stepping it up? Give em a chance!

Having gone to the MBC more than once, I can safely say that the food served there is decent - about as good as you might expect for bar food, anyway. The brewed beers are also okay (but not worth going out of your way for. Iím not gonna say I could brew better beer in my bathtub, but itís really nothing special here.). The main problem with this place is the service- service is everything, and the service here is awful. Two of the bartenders (who sometimes also act as waitresses or hostesses) are known to get belligerently drunk, even while working, and are consistently rude and unprofessional to customers. I will not be coming back.

MBC is a dimly lit eatery, lounge, bar and museum rolled into one. This place really captures the feel of earlier American brewpubs- that mix of British influence (a flavor for the local) with something like a frontier tavern. There are pub games (foosball, darts, etc.) and pictures of Old Morgantown covering the walls. Service was friendly and was able to answer my basic questions; later in the visit I spoke with a brewer who was very willing to talk about the beer and other local finds- very accessible and friendly. MBC had ten of their beers on tap for my visit; most of them classic styles brewed to style, and a peanut butter blonde. Food was good overall; my sonís pizza tasted like it used Prego, and our pretzel seemed more whole wheat twist than pretzel, but my wifeís entree (Appalachian burger with rings) and my food (Crab Cake burger with brew fries) were both delicious. My samples were a dollar a piece, so pretty standard overall, food was fairly priced as well. A good stop on our trip from DC, and a nice place to pick up my first WV ticks. NOTES: MBC is walking distance (maybe 0.5 mi.) from Waterfront Place Hotel. If you want coffee, Jayís Daily Grind is quite good, itís up on Willey St. PARKING IN MORGANTOWN IS HELL. Please be prepared with coins and such, as EVERY SPOT is metered, even church parking lots. Just. Wow. Thankfully, parking at MBC is free; most places in town canít claim the same.

Popped in today for a growler fill to finish off my West Virginia portion of the US map. Itís a college town bar with some food that looked like bar grub and seven or eight taps of Morgantown beer. It might have been more than that, but most of them seemed pretty boring. I talked with the bartender for a little before deciding on a growler for home. $13 for the beer, $6.50 for glass if you donít have any. It was nice that they filled non-MBC glass, so that saved some beer, but the place was a bit of a train wreck on game day and we didnít have family lunch there like we had planned. If you want to get boozed with a bunch of college kids, this place is for you. If youíre looking for a nice brew pub for lunch with the fam... keep on driving.

Right downtown - nice older building. Very dark inside. Very good service (got there right around shift change). Nice eclectic food selection (especially for WV). Beers were all decent enough. A nice stop - Iíd say a must if in the area (as thereís not a lot of other choices).
