What an odd place. Having spent a lot of time in German stubes, I find the decoration and design of this place unnatural and uncomfortable. There is just random bric-a-brac everywhere. Though they have patio seating, it’s on a narrow sidewalk that looks out onto the strip mall parking lot, and the inside seating area has no windows so it feels like you’re in a casino or a movie theater and can not determine when the sun has set. There’s a gazebo in the middle of the dining room floor and the tables are awkwardly set around it, and three interior walls of the dining room are cluttered with racks of warm beer and wine bottles, chocolate, chips, tins of herring and other international foods. So if you want to browse these items you end up sticking your butt into someone’s shoulder as they sit at their table. The beer list is extensive and the selection is quite good (Thiriez Xtra and Saint Germain/Nogne-O collaboration on tap and Schlenkerla in bottles make me happy), but prices are high for small draft pours - they use the smaller 10oz Belgian tulips and charge between $5-7 for these. And $10 for a liter of some draft beer wouldn’t be so bad if the ones available at this price were any good (who the hell could drink a liter of Okocim?) Food menu is a lot of German-style schnitzel with some odd "twists", as they say, like cheese and ham, or white gravy, or fried eggs. Overall I give them props for curating a great beer selection but the ambiance is fake-y and after a few hours I desperately wanted to leave and never hear German folk music again.

Great little joint in a strip mall in suburban Tampa near the USF campus. Food is very high quality and insanely cheap...great value. That being said, the veal jägerschnitzel was tasty, but it was obviously not pounded flat in the true German tradition. The spaetzle was lovely, but the kraut was limp and too mild for my taste. Those minor quibbles did not distract from the overall experience. The beer list is not just limited to the German classics...some very good Belgian choices with some interesting off-the-wall esoteric Belgian, German, and American beers. I really enjoyed my too short visit.

Been here before, but a while ago. This trip arrived early on friday evening before hunahpu day. We sat right away, but it was packed by the time we left. The food is authentic german fare - pretty good. The beer is nice geeky stuff and better selection than I remembered. Unfortunately, many that I was hoping for were out (both tap and bottle). I just missed taps of Cantillon and Angry Chair german chocolate. There were still plenty of interesting brews - lots of sours/wilds and locals. Between our group we got Rapp Berliner, Struise Weltmerz, Ola Dubh 21 - among others. They have some nice bottles to-go as well. I noticed a Jester King and a one off St. Somewhere. The setup is kind of a mess. They have a video screen with the tap list, but it kept switching between bottles/taps, wasn’t up to date and was far away (other than that...). They did pass around a new sheet after a bit. The server was very nice, but you could tell they were a little overwhelmed. Overall, I would go fairly regularly if lived in the area -- for the solid, presumably rotated, tap list and because I’m a sucker for german food. I’d probably aim for an off time though.

Clutter everywhere. Boxes and bottles and junk all over, it really crowds the place. I walked around looking for the bottles for sale all over but I stopped too much clutter. The front room smells musty like a locker room. They do have rare beers but not everything is cold it wasn’t explained well and the server didn’t want to give me the bottle list. This place has potential. It’s highly overrated like the placed in Orlando

Great beer selection, but not much else. Tough place if you have friends who are not just into beer. Oh well they are great at what they do and that’s beer! Food is typical German/heavy greasy fare. Service was awesome though!

Visited here in mid-March 2013. Cool little German restaurant tucked away in a suburban strip mall. Has at least 40 rotating taps and too many bottles to count. Tap list is up on a rotating electronic screen with prices, abv and description - brilliant. Some thing for everyone’s tastes - lots of rare stuff, some locals, and more German beer than you can shake a stick at. Menu is huge with plenty of German entries and some American fare. Eclectic decorations - kind of like somebody’s basement in the Midwest. Servers were energetic and knowledgeable. Would frequent if I live in the TB area.

Plenty of bar seats but does get crowded. Many times has germany music. Good atsmophere and food is very good. Beer selection is excellent with many options for bottle beer to go.

I only wish I could go here more often. The place has the feel of a German Beer hall / restaurant but has beers from around the world. AND these are not just any beers, there is a fantastic selection of beers at this place. US, Belgian,British, and of course German beers were VERY well represented here. Most of the tap beers were German but that was a great thing as that way they were likely to be fresh and from what I tried, they were. Service was friendly and fast. The food was very good and priced very reasonably ($6 for lunch). Some of the bottles may have been a bit pricey but not too bad and they took off 15% from the ticketed price. Great place, will go back when I am in FL.
