About a year ago I called in here, and walked straight back out again. However, on a crawl round Leeds today, visiting most of the big names, it had to be said the choice and condition of the beer in here was second to none. Looking beyond the three cask York beers, none of which I care for, there were offerings from the likes of Northern Monk, Kernel, Hand Drawn Monkey, and Left Hand. All in perfect nick, and served with a smile by the knowledgable barman (who used to work in Friends of Ham). The pub itself is ripe for a refurb, and lacks a bit of ambience, but if they keep the quality beer at the decent prices they ask, then Iíll see it as a must visit.

A nice enough pub that sits across the road from the town hall. A long bar with a dozen or so hand pulls. A good mix of regional breweries. It was a nice stop for a half and to find relief from the wet weather outside.

I was told that Mr Foleys was one of the best places in Leeds, a kind of lively traditonnal pub with animated atmosphere and great beers... Well, the place is so faded, depressing ambience, some random cask ales on tap, nothing really peculiar in the fridge...

Lovely place in Leeds, well worth a visit, even a flying one, as itís close to the train station.
Lots of wood and leather, this place always has an excellent selection of local bitters and ales, and the fridges are stocked with bottles from all over. Plenty of character in a huge victorian building with various levels and mezzanines. An excess of screens, though they arenít too oppressive compared to many pubs these days.
During my last few visits the staff havenít been particularly friendly, though as a bunch of studenty dreadlocked rastabouts asking endless questions maybe this is understandable.
Definitely a must-do in Leeds anyway.

Rather faded, student like vibe but a cracking selection of beer, decent staff, comfy sofas and lots of space. If you want space and beer and there are a few of you then itís good but donít come looking for amazing ambience.

Utilising the ground floor of one of the grand buildings opposite the large Town Hall building in the city centre, this ale house naturally has a large selection to choose from, but the prices are a little higher than most places. Thereís several platform levels within the open plan bar to sit on with a classic wooden furnished style throughout - it certainly doesnít disappoint. Belgian beers and live sports are also available.

How the mighty have fallen.
A year or two ago this place was becoming a hub for exciting happenings in the Leedsí beer scene. But now its back to its old ways. Its tatty, the toilets are a state...it need to some money spending on it and a landlord/manager with some vision or at least an interest in beer.
I used to be a regular and I havenít been in months.

Lovely Bar. Lots of nooks and crannies to hide amongst, a whole ton of beer on tap and a whole bunch more in bottle. Even on a late Saturday, and with the place buzzing (including a drunken Stag do) there was a lovely atmosphere about the place. Really chilled, relaxed and perfect beer. What more could you ask for really?

We (me, dad & Barry) visited here on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th March 2012. I really quite liked this place, the beer selection was very decent with Revelutions, Summer Wine and Magic Rock amongst the offerings plus a very good choice of bottle in the refridgerators. Staff were very good, and atmosphere very pleasant. We sat in the back area on the Saturday lounging on a large sofa, we did this again on the Sunday afternoon and then on the Sunday night returned and sat in the front bar area until chucking out time. I think that I may have preferred this to the North Bar which whilst excellent in many respects can get crowded and appeared far more expensive than Mr Foleys.
