Lots of Wisconsin singles on the shelves and pretty much all of the better mainstays you can expect to find in the area. Nearly every sixpack is broken down and sold as a single. My son got a sucker from an employee last time we visited, so that scored major points. It’s likely the best of what’s around in that area of town.
It’s a damn shame that he had to go out of business. Chris did a great job of hounding distributors so that he got stuff that nobody else in Milwaukee could... there was a great wall of singles (pretty much everything was available in singles form), and the prices were solid. Service was excellent, and samples were often provided (sometimes from Chris’s personal stash). I’d love to see another store like this in the area.
Basically a walk-thru store at a strip mall. A must stop for someone from out of the area looking for singles. Owner is proactive in getting brews that the geek is looking for. Just wish I was closer to attend events and stop to check for the rarities that grace the shelf for a limited time. Keep up the good work Chris.
Came here after Discount, I loved the singles wall, and the rest of the selection was pretty good too. Service was great, answered all our questions, only the guy lied to us saying he would make it to Facto’s that night and then failed to do so.
This rating is based on the information provided by my wife on her recent trip to WI. When Chris’ wife (owners) found out that I was on ratebeer and that the wife was buying beer for me, she called Chris to come to the store to talk to my wife. They talked for awhile and he helped her out with a few specialty things that she had missed (she’s really good at hunting down beers for me). He even dug into his own reserve to provide her with a beer. She was quite impressed and we will definitely be stopping there again when we go back to WI.
I walked in the back door and was immediately faced with a wall of single selections, many not available in my home area, Chicago. (Needless to say, I rented a trailer to take a few home with me.) Good assortment of bombers & sixers, most of them US craft breweries. The young woman who was on duty was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and cute. I’ll probably be in the area for work in the near future, so I’ll definitely be stopping back here, especially since other reviewers have noted that they have a good stock rotation.
Stopped by with my wife this evening to stock up on some premium liquors, replenish my already healthy beer cellar and to pick up some glassware as a gift. We had the good fortune to encoutner solid staff working the store. Dwight was extremely helpful and provided some informed opinions in the hard liquor areas where I was weak. I particularly enjoyed the "wall of beer singles", with Dwight standing by my side helpfully pointing out choice selections and handing me a stream of empty 6-pack holders for my convenience. My wife and I came out with our needs fulfilled. Thanks for maintaining a quality shop!
This is a great Milwaukee beer store, with excellent service and good selection. The only ways I can think of to make this store better is to make it bigger (or make room for more beer by clearing out some of that dusty wine!) and to make it more convenient geographically to my home and work.
Chris, the owner, is active on this site, and advises members of new stuff via beer-mail. He’s also working on a website that will detail new arrivals and in-store inventory.
In the handful of times I’ve visited this shop, I’ve never met Chris, but have always been taken care of by his very capable employee Eric. Eric is extremely knowledgeable about what’s in stock, available, and going on with beer around town, and extremely willing to shoot the breeze with you about beer or help you find something.
There is a good selection of singles in this store, but the store could have more space devoted to singles. Murray’s doesn’t have the selection of Discount Liquor (Oklahoma Ave), but its smaller selection means its stock rotates much more frequently. Add on superior service, and Murray’s is among the best two bottle shops in the Milwaukee area.
My mainstay liquor store even though I have to make a bit of a trip to get there. Chris and Eric make this store what it is, a store directly targeted towards beer aficionados. They greet you upon entering and give you a good rundown on what’s new, what’s good and what’s bad. Prices are fair and the selection is lean and mean. One of the best selections of singles in the state with the focus being on the high-end of the beer-geek spectrum. In addition to great conversation and advice, spontaneous tastings often are known to break out along with the occasional appearance of live music as was the case with the now almost-famous "Scotty Karate". Definitely a mainstay of mine and highly recommended!

A dynamite operation with great service and attention to beer geek detail. Chris (the owner) is on top of his game in keeping the place stocked with relevant top beers. The singles selection is second to none and judging from the dates on the bottles, they did not use the single sales to dump their old beer.
Great selection of Bell’s New Glarus, Lagunitas and others.
