Excellent beer, nice atmosphere, very traditional (but not in that old-style, murky way). As good as a modern Czech beer tap gets.

Nice, cozy (i.e. small and a bit cramped) but almost always crowded restaurant. Very nice regional food but you know you’re here for the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell so drink until you can drink no more.

Oh yeah, go here just to sit in the courtyard on a hot summer day drinking unfiltered Pilsner Urquell. This is the same beer as that which is served on the brewery tour, only it’s from the tanks and not from the wood barrel... but man is it delicious... one of the best pils I’ve ever had, different from the wood fermented version, and dare I say better? As far as the interior, it’s typical old wood, a lot of seats and benches, the food is above average but not the best we found in Czech Republic. You owe it to yourself to visit this place and drink the unfiltered PU before you hit the brewery tour, just to be able to compare them with little time inbetween.

What to say about this place? It’s where you come for the unfiltered beer, if you don’t wanna go on the Disney ride that is the Urquell brewery tour. :p Also, the draft beer is here probably better than the stuff straight from the brewery tank, because it’s pressurized. If you plan on eating here, better come early or make reservations. It can get pretty crowded. Anyway, we found a table that was reserved by 20h, and with only 23 minutes left, we convinced a waitress to bring us beer and food, all of which was in front of us, less than 6 minutes after entering the establishment. Hands down! Top service! (Well, a little smile wouldn’t have hurt :p )

Great pivo, even though I personnally prefer the filtered unpasteurazed version. But it’s nice to be able to taste the difference. Food is good, sold at low prices and service is efficient. Great place to relax after visiting the beer museum next door.

Well, this lovely beer hall/porch/walled garden resturant/tourist museum attraction could not have been any more convienent for me since the Pension City where we stayed during our two nights in Plzen is 75 paces away. The Unfiltered Urquell is all it stacks up to be and is served with pride here. The waiters and barmaids are attentive but not pushy. I ended up sitting o the canopied porch all the times I was there. Fil met us here and subsequently dragged us about Plzen until we stumbled our way home. A very pleasant place to have a spectacular beer.

Went here after the brewery tour and before the Viktoria Plzen match. It was mobbed with fans drinking in preparation for Vrba’s last league match as coach. Its a typical Czech boozer. Warm and inviting. They’ve got the Nefiltrovany on tap though and that’s a HUGE draw. The food was decent. You can get PET bottles to go. The staff were happy to oblige. Viktoria made short work of Pribram.

Every RateBeerian comes here for only one thing: the unfiltered Urquel. And it is very much worth it (if you’re near Plzen at some time). We were drinking this goodness as our first and in the sun in the garden, which probably influnced my view to this place. But the food was decent as well, the prices low (for my standards; average for Czech standards) and the service fine. Add the unfiltered Urquel and you can’t go wrong.

We popped in for a pint only. Located in the old town of Plzen, it was very crowded and the Fenix we got was rather oxidised. Didn’t have the food but it looked very good. Alas, they have the unbeatable unfiltered Urquell, which is the main reason you should go there.

I quite liked this place as a pub - a nice relaxed vibe and a fairly young crowd on the occasions I’ve been there. The food is very good too. Service was a bit average when I was last there - they kept bringing me the wrong beer even though motelpogo said I was pronouncing it right. Obviously you go there because of the PU kvasnicovy which is very nice, but I think it’s been surpassed these days. And then there’s the Master beers... don’t do it! Obviously this is a must-visit at least once, but there are several places within a five minute walk I’d probably rather drink. But I like places that are a bit weird - this is probably the nicest (classiest?) good beer pub in town.
