The best beer we found in Madrid. My wife and I both prefered the full flavoured dark tostada to the blond rubia that seemed more popular with the locals. We made two visits. The first was early afternoon and it was very quiet. On the following day, we arrived early evening and it was busier.

I’ve been here a few times, the ambiance is warm and friendly. The bartenders are nice and reasonably fast when it’s not packed. They only sell their two homemade beers, which is fine because they’re both very drinkable. Still need to try the food, I understand it’s German and Spanish dishes. Did I mention the value? 4.50 euros for a half liter which is great for a decent beer in this area of town which can be touristy and expensive.

In Madrid’s Santa Ana square, next to the Español Theater and the Reina Victoria Hotel, lies this German-inspired brewpub, one of the few in the capital and, allegedly, the oldest of them all.

Muy céntrico, brewpub histórico, pero con muy poca selección de cervezas, de barril dos. Podría aspirar a más.

Visited on a Friday afternoon. Old fashioned european brewpub in downtown Madrid (tacky interior with copper kettles in the back). Three beers on tap, wasn’t expecting much but the quality was better than expected, decent offerings, available in small and large, small makes for a nice taster. They serve some food but I didn’t try it, service was friendly to tourists. Worth stopping by for a few quick ones.

Nice, familiar ambiance. Selection is almost only house beer, which is ok, although there are only two of them. Prices are reasonable (2€ for 12oz). Food looks and was very tasty. My revuelto de morcilla de burgos was spectacular, the rest of the menu was the thypicall and filling spanish cuisinne (tortillas, chorizos, jamones, yummy!!). Service was not bad, but very slow.

A good brewpub placed in the tipical Santa Ana Square. This is a place that is plenty of natives and tourist. The brewpub offers two types of beer: Helles and dunkel. In my opinion the best beer is the Dunkel. On the other hand, the food is good, and the most important..., cheap, in comparison with other restaurants in this area.

Famous brewpub in Madrid. The beers are good, so the service but there isn’t a large variety to choose.

A poor range in this brewpub where you can have also some meal in the charm room that is downstairs.
It is a crowded bar, mainly on weekends, full of foreigns, but their beers are quite good so a visit is recommended.

Even if they have only 2 beers, the quality is better than the ones at Magister; the beers are hoppier. The food (tapas) is quite genuine.
