Well, this gastropub was high on the list prior to a Padres game and the food did not disappoint. The beer selection was smaller than I expected but still a varied and fresh list was offered. The team service kept us feeling welcome. Prices are a little high but in line with downtown San Diego. The place itself is fairly eclectic and I would describe it as a literary place.

This is a corner space at 8th and G street where it has these cool large swing out windows giving you unique seating options. The space’s décor is eclectic almost to the point of being too much. There’s no real booth seating here but low tables and a kitchen counter sort of thing that puts you almost outside looking out onto 8th street. There is alos a meandering dark wood bar with stool seatnig. There are seemingly out of place animal mountings up on the walls like a deer, a rhino, a mouse, a jack-a-lope, an ostrich and a duck. Above a few of the many taps on the top shelf are large format beer bottles that are mostly Stone and I see this as a nice touch. The beer selection was ok, there’s nothing to get the beer geek excited but there’s still options that will make us happy. I like the 32oz and 64oz glass growlers that are used as water pitchers. I overheard they top off the water for each successive customer rather than pouring out the water and replacing it. I had the beat salad paired with their shoestring French fries that come with two types of house made dipping sauces. D-Lish. The service was great. I’ll be back for more food for sure and maybe a beer.

Trendy bar near gas lamp, don’t remember how we ended up here, but boy was I happy with the beer selection. Lots of taps and a bunch of bottles in a bar that seems more cocktail focused so I was very happy that they kept such a large beer selection. Quite expensive though but considering location I suppose it was average. Pretty nice place and makes a nice change to other boring beer bars that think they don’t need to make an effort with decor just because they have a good selection. Well worth a visit!

Neat spot not far from Gaslamp and PETCO. Felt more NYC than San Diego. Roughly 30 well-chosen taps with a wide range.

A trendy eatery/ bar with a solid range of beers. I had a limited Almanac beer on my visit. Prices are par for the course. Service was efficient. Lots of good beers both on draft and in bottle, highlighted by CA breweries. A good option for this part of town.

Sweet night life spot in the gaslamp part of SD. Awesome vibe- crazy tap list for the area. There is a speakeasy if you go the bathroom and down the corridor push the "wall" of kegs. It’s a door. But inside, you’ll need to have arrived early or they max out and you won’t ever get in even if they put your name down. Tap list in the normal neighborhood is excellent- Bruery, Almanac, Russian River, Ballast Point, Alesmith, and more. Had stuff like Almanac Gose and Bruery Tart of Darkness. Quick service. Had a lot of fun here. Didn’t ask about sampler flights or small pours. Craft cocktails and craft beer are the theme here. Food looked awesome, but we didn’t eat. Will be back.

Interesting mix of upscale and hipster. The food looked really good and I was hungry but we were on a mission to visit a lot of places. About two dozen taps, some of which were pretty good but nothing surprising/unexpected. Service was a little slow but friendly enough at the bar. The tables seem to be seat yourself, or at least there wasn’t anyone seating people. Stayed long enough to have a glass of the newest Anchor Zymaster beer (saison) before heading out. Next time I’m going to eat here.

Went on a Saturday night and the place was fairly full. Low lighting, lots of people enjoying some food (which looked and smelled good). Kind of a hip, maybe borderline hipster feel. Nice but somewhat standard draft list. Also had a good cocktail list. Pretty reasonable draft prices (most beers were $5-$6), and the service was good.
