visited shortly after opening on a wednesday afternoon. as you travel around a winding gravel road you begin to wonder if you have made a wrong turn, then you are stricken with a truly striking sight: a compound of buildings of epic proportions. the gift shop is perfectly organized and had stacks of R&D months after release much to my chagin and wonderment. service was off the chain, for such a simple and short visit i was blown back.

Visited on the way from Chicago to The House on the Rock. Beautiful brewery on beautiful grounds. Everything is so new and clean, which you get to see on your self guided tour. The outdoor area is really worth a view, set up like old ruins overlooking some nice scenery. The gift shop had lots of swag and prices were hefty. You can do a tasting for 3.50, you get 4 samples and get to keep the sampling glass. Nothing all that special on tap basic stuff and Serendipity. The store had lots of regular beer, the Anniversary 500mL, 2 fruit beers. Prices were similar to everywhere else in Madison. Worth a stop if you have the time but not really something I highly recommend. However, if I lived in Madison I would probably come out on many nice weekends.

Itís a bit strange place. Itís like a movie set without any originality. Samples only by threes. No Raspberry Tart available which I came here for. I was disappointed. The village of New Glarus was more interesting than the brewery... unfortunately.

First off the place is under construction so will need to rerate later. It is very a confusing layout, buy glass and ticket here, fill over there. No food. Less selection compared to a market down the road at similar prices. Seemed a little gimmicky.

Visited twice now, once in 2011 and once on the way to GTMW this year (August 9, 2013).
This place is really cool, even if you donít like their beer. They have somewhat of a castle on top of a hill. They finally paved the road that leads up to it but itís still kind of remote and rustic. Inside is both a humungous brewery (they actually just added a whole other building for more fermenters) that you can take a self guided tour of and a gift shop. They have at least a dozen different types of glasses for sale, if youíre into collecting glassware. Outside theyíve done some work and have built some ruins down the side of the hill. They have a bar too of course. You have to buy the glass the first time for an extra dollar. Fills are kind of expensive, as is the merchandise, but I guess I canít complain about being able to get pints of Serendipity on tap. Below the building is a bottle shop. You can buy individual bottles or you can buy cases (they have case discounts). They also have a truck come out that does brick oven pizzas. Really cool place to hang out but know that they respect their distributors and mark the beer up more at the brewery. Go to the gas station down the street if you want to buy the beer cheaper.

Especially some of the specialty/ seasonals which I could find of more in their local stores.Great potential and will like to see it grow into the beautiful thing it will become in a few more years.

Beer Heaven on Earth. Overlooking a valley of beautiful rolling hills of Wisconsin farmlands. 75 degrees of perfect sun, fluffy clouds, a gentle breeze. Wild grass and flowers sway, butterflies dance, birds sing. All is right in the world as you enjoy a fresh New Glarus draft. I could go on but dont need to... Belongs on every beer lovers Bucket List.

Beautiful countryside setting up on a hill overlooking the valley. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Dan the brewmaster was even out and about chatting with folks. Your is self guided and small. Samplings available. Great outdoor area to sit and have a few pints. Samples of full pints are a little pricy but not outrageous.

About 30 miles south of Madison, New Glarus is worth the drive. Self-guided tour that is somewhat lacking. Tour is no charge. You can sample 3 beers for $3.50 and keep the glass. The samples are available in the gift shop. Current beers are available in the "depot". Expansion is going on. Very clean and modern facility. First class operation,.

Visited around the noon hour on the day before July 4th. I love what the companyís going for in this quasi- "mountain"-side Swiss-German chalet. The self-guided tour highlights an amazingly clean, modern and ship-shape brewing operation. The tasting room itself wasnít open this day, but they were offering tasters out of the gift shop, which was fine by me. Great value in their sampler options with a glass thrown in, but they only had about 6 of their beers. Nice outside patio (a work in progress) with a nice view of the hilly Wisconsin countryside. They sell a few chessy snacks, or you can bring your own. Nice place. (Brewery #607)
