54 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 9/20 legion242 (107) Richardson, Texas | August 30, 2005 Only was really interesting to me as a single stop, and not the destination I thought that it might be. I had the same bald bartender and he was a cool guy. Had a couple of local brews that were good, but didn’t try any of there own. It does desrve better then a low 70 score though- lots of character. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 jasonp (29) Leesburg, Virginia | August 16, 2005 I really enjoyed this place. Very relaxed, old wooden bar atmosphere. My bald waiter guy was really attentive and provided great service. Got to try some good beers here. Limited selection, but they have a handful of their own good hophead brews plus some local stuff. Didn’t eat here. I would love to come back here. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 porterdude (15) Bellingham, Washington | June 14, 2005 An interesting place. I visited in the summer. Service was extremely slow. Wait staff didnt seem to know there beers that well. Really kick butt food however, and really good beer. Sit in the back patio as it is way nicer there than inside. Feels kinda weird because you walk through the kitchen to get there. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 mikebeertaster (23) washougal, Washington | January 3, 2005 This pub is much better in the summer than the winter. Great location just on the edge of northwest portland which means parking isn’t bad. Food is normal bar food. The patio is a wonderful place to enjoy a beer and a summer evening. Not the best during the winter | 66 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 batkins (78) Vancouver, Washington | September 11, 2004 Decent beer, decent food, almost no atmosphere. Nice deck out back, couple of tv’s and a golden t inside. Not a bad place to have a beer or two, just nothing too special. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 jeffc666 (93) Fairfax, Virginia | August 10, 2004 This place exhudes college hipster hang-out, dimly lit, small, lots of wall decorations, etc... I was there in the middle of the day and thankfully it was not smoky. For the entire length of our stay there was only one lady working. She tended bar, ran food, and waited tables. Yet we had good to great service, a real surprise. As for the real reason that anyone reading this would visit, onto the beer. They had I believe 8 of their own beers on tap, 2 of which were on Nitrogen pour plus a handful of other Oregon breweries like Caldera. All beers were of good quality though not outstanding. I really dislike Nitrogen pour so those particualtr beers were doomed from the get go with me. The only food I tried was Nachos, the chips were stratight from the bag and the salsa from a jar. Not that I expected more. Overall a nice place with friendly and attentive service and decent lineup of draft beers. | 74 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 BückDich (215) McCall, Idaho | April 12, 2004 The atmosphere is just like a smoky college bar with similar quality. The place is decored with beer paraphanelia. Pool tables, dart boards, video games, that sort of thing. The beers were pretty good with a nice sampler tray. We got to meet the brewmaster and he was a pretty cool guy. He gave us a personal tour of the brewery which was awesome, tiny little place. We got to try some beers straight off the fermentors which was a big plus, that was some good stuff. I liked this place for the overall friendlyness, but that could vary from visit to visit. There's some good beers here that any RBian would want to try, so I'll still recommend it. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Murphy (35) Fort Collins, Colorado | January 28, 2004 I had a fun time at this place. Really laid back atmosphere, like a college bar. Had some really good beer there that I couldn't find anywhere else. The beer from the brewery itself isn't amazing, but it's certainly worth drinking. | 60 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | January 12, 2004| Updated January 21, 2013 Located on the trendy-yuppie 23rd Street in Portland, it refreshingly un-yuppy, with a small bar area, a few old wooden tables and the usual pub ornaments. The on premises beer is of high quality, and the selection of local micros is very good. This is not a place where you will find Bridgeport or Widmer as the local micros, but things much more prized and much more rare, included cask selections from Deshutes, as well as taps from Mia’s and Pia’s and Caldera. Service is nice, and the food is average pub fare, with a below-average happy hour menu. |
