Although only 5 or 6 ales on they are often from obscure breweries rather than the same old!

The New Rose has only three draught beers but theyíre interesting ones from craft breweries and thereís a list of around eight upcoming ales chalked up on a board. The pub is wrapped around the bar in a horseshoe shape and walking into the small public bar is like stepping back in time, though Iím not sure to which era. It could be shabby, seedy even, but itís actually neat and clean. There are wood panelled walls, a worn floor painted shiny black, rough wooden tables each with a candle and a single freesia stem in a small vase, distressed looking chairs and a black plastic banquette with roses embossed into the seat back. The other bar areas are similar but more spacious. I liked this place - it has charm and a nice atmosphere in addition to well kept beers. (Visited 3 June 2013).

This place has one of the best websites I have ever seen: the site has the placeís name, address, phone number and the line, "Just a fucking pub". Just a fucking pub, indeed. But it is a nice pub. Itís a laid-back spot, definitely a local hangout, with a diverse clientele ranging from old geezers to hip young folks. Six cask lines, though itís just three different beers repeated on opposite sides of the bar. Nice cask options including two London breweries during my visit. Not cheap, though not excessive. Simple bottle range, nothing very crafty. I think they offer food here but I didnít eat anything. Big place, fun vibe, good tunes. The Redemption Hopspur I had was in top nick. Only worth a visit if youíre in the area.
