Not so much a beer bar, really. They totally scored with their awesome location; they get a ton of traffic here at the confluence of 3 or 4 neighborhoods. That said, if you’re a beer geek, your business should be done across the canal at Brouwer’s. This place wouldn’t usually have anything Brouwer’s wouldn’t, except for maybe the odd local keg that you can get at 100 other places. RIP the late lamented 318, one of the great, clever blue-collar bars of Seattle’s days gone by. The 318, as you might guess by this place’s address, used to be located here. When it went out of business, the NSS came in and took over. Nothing against the NSS at all by any means, but it’s hard to imagine drinking here with Brouwer’s just around the way.
