Great place, nice atmosphere. Don’t believe that the grog is just brown ale; it’s malty and filling, so save it for dessert!

Great pub fare with a very good selection of their own brews. None of them are bad, so long as you are familiar with the style. Prices are on par with the city. It can get crowded later, but it is a great lunch spot.

This is a nice place to enjoy beer and food. The beer selection and food is very good. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Had no problems getting a table. The service was quite attentive and my pot of mussels (large and flavorful) were awesome. I ordered a beer sampler tray of their Grog, 700 Level, 60 Shilling, Gordo’s oatmeal stout, and 3C Extreme beers and liked them all, particularly the 3C Extreme beer. I would definitely go back to this bar and will bring some friends along for the experience.

The Philadelphia region is full of amazing beer and lots of brewpubs and Nodding Head is one of my favorite. The weathered philly ambiance is right up my alley, along with the visible brewing equipment and bobble head collection. I’ve always had pleasant, knowledgeable service. The food is nothing extraordinary but, good grub and at good prices (however, this is the opinion of a vegetarian... I hear their mussels are awesome). As for the beer... the fellas a Nodding Head know good beer and are masters at their craft! I have yet to have a beer their that I don’t love. Their Grog is one of my all time favorite beers. Awesome!

Revisited November 2007, this time for dinner. Still holding on to it’s groovy atmosphere with quality, hearty brews, this time I learned they also offer pretty good brews. Holding on to a high rating for me! Cool little upstairs brewpub with a quirky collection of nodding heads behind the bar. They had some pretty good brews ... notably they were far more adventurous than the standard pale, amber, wheat, stout lineups of so many brewpubs. Top 2 in Philly.

Very comfy and casual atmosphere in a cool, old building. Service was very good. Just had some of the appetizer sampler plates - all were pretty good. Beers were tasty. The beer sampler is basically served in tumbler glasses - much bigger than most places.

First stop of the Philly trip, and one of the best.Though the quality of the beer wasn’t too high (3.2 average from me), they served an interesting and atypical mix of styles, including a berliner weisse, Belgian chocolate stout, 60 /-, scotch ale, and a few others. Service was generally good, except the bar tender who poured woodruff syrup into my berliner weisse without asking me and then got pissed when I wanted one without. The atmosphere and music were great though, as was the food. Highly recommended, and essential stop on any Philly beer tour.

Been here twice and will probably go back in the future. Very realistic decor and doesn’t try to be showy. Service is pretty good. Selection is pretty interesting I think for a brewpub. Sometimes they have the not so usual stuff. Only had the burger here and it was damn good I thought. I live in Brooklyn and I love the Brooklyn scene. Maybe that is why I dig Nodding Head so much.

Cool place, had dinner here tonight with my girlfriend and some friends. Good small selection of brew and good food, with good variety of vegan and vegetarian and meat eater options. Can’t say a bad thing about it. Cool interior with a lot of bobble heads. Nice place.

Made 2 stops on my visit in Philly. Bartender was very knowledgable about the beers on tap. He went out of his way for us. The food was very good. The selection they had was decent and the beers were good as well. Worth the stop.
