78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 greenclansman (50) Nicosia, Cyprus | February 8, 2013 Great beer restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and nice. Not much from the decoration but still a cozy pace. Friendly service. Food was very very nice. Beer selection, even though not huge, it is very well designed with some rare and unique bottles. Very reasonable on prices. Overall a must place to go. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (178) Hässelby, Sweden | January 19, 2013 (Visited July & Oct 2012) Great little restaurant, just between Grand Place and Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. It’s quite a small place, so it could be hard to get a table, but it’s worth a try. Very friendly and helpful service. The selection of draught beers is down to four (one from Senne and the Dupont Saison for example). The list of bottled beers is not huge, but the beers are well chosen and there are some fairly odd beers that are quite hard to find. I tried several beers from Alvinne and Pius X from de Graal for example. The main thing here is however the food. Most of the food is made with a touch of beer, and on my three visits this far, it has all been great. This place should definitely be included on a visit to Brussels. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 ladnewton (144) London, England | November 14, 2012 I loved this place. Visited on 12th November 2012 during a crawl around Brussels, and settled in with a zingy bottle of Alvinne Freaky which was excellent. Food was superb - I enjoyed the mussel soup and Oostendaise cod as a main, not only great to eat but elegantly presented. Delicious though the food was, an interesting, well-chosen range of beers on bottle and tap were available here to suit most palates, and unless you are seeking out the ultraobscure you will find a beer to please. I liked the building a lot - a turn of the century or earlier, high-ceilinged narrowish room with a period fireplace and decorations. Enjoy the warmth of tungsten lighting while you still can! The staff were friendly and conversant in all three languages (English being the 3rd!). relaxing jazz-oriented playlist in the background. A great place, rather interesting and frequented by locals for the great food and beer selection, along with discerning tourists. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 Papegaei (1) , Belgium | October 21, 2012 Beautiful art-deco bar, great ambiance, some great beers to discover here. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 womencantsail (391) Garbage Grove, California | October 8, 2012 Ate dinner here and had a few beers as well. A very small place, so if you plan on going for a weekend meal, make a reservation. The food itself was quite good, probably the best service we received in Brussels, and a nice beer selection, too. Had the rabbit saddle in gueuze sauce. Meal came with some bread and salad in addition to the main course. The prices on the dishes are also very reasonable. Nothing is more than 17E, which is kind of hard to find at a nice place in the city. Very highly recommended. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Foffern (27) Bodø, Norway | September 13, 2012 A small and cozy place with lovely food, and the dishes are big. They also have a great selection of many different beers. They had three beers on tap and a beer of the month as well on my visit. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Rasmus40 (139) Beder, Aarhus, Denmark | July 24, 2012 Great little place near Moeder Lambic, Fontainas, which was recommended to us by the waitor there. The interior is lovely and seems like it has been there forever. I was there with my family and the waitress was really nice to my kid. I had some really good beers from their nice selection of lambics. The rabbit’s back that I had for dinner was excellent. This place is highly recommended. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 ultimatepoche (44) Lille, France | July 15, 2012 Quality food in the immediate surroundings of grote markt, cool service and nice selection of craft beers in bottles. Totally worth it when in brussels. Had the Schieve Tabarnak there with honey roasted pork, overall an excellent meal, not too expensive. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 SaintMatty (147) Uppsala, Sweden | May 13, 2012 A cosy and welcoming restaurant with a small, but fairly varied food menu. I ate the stoemp with sausages and it was delicious. The beer list is not the biggest you’ll find, but the focus is on quality. Dupont Redor Pils on tap is a definite plus. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 Fin (368) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | April 29, 2012 We (Fin & Loz) visited here Saturday 28th April 2012. It was busy and we were not eating, so sat at two of the three stools at the bar. Great little beer list with some really interesting selections, I had Alvinne Freaky, Loz had an old favourite Taras Boulba. Food looked pretty good. We wanted to sit outside but the lady serving said we couldn’t as it might rain, we said but it isn’t raining, and to be fair it didn’t look likely to, but the lady serving suggested that it would probably rain if we sat outside and she didn’t want to come out to serve us in the rain, a rather fuzzy logic but amusing, however neither of us were that impressed with the person serving. Its a good place and the beers are very well chosen , however I am rather surprised that it rates as highly as it does. |
