Really nice brewpub that we visited on Tuesday 5th June 2012. I have to say that I was mightily impressed with the Maibock in particular but the other beer that I had was also pleasant. Nice surroundings, service fine, food looked very nice as well. The shop was closed for lunch when we were there so missed out on visiting that. This place is located directly opposite Hutt’N and was open when Hutt’N was closed, though we did get to the latter, later on in the day.

Visited relatively early on our visit to Nürnberg on Monday, as Hütt’n was closed. Cute wooden interior, nothing stunning, I’d say "just right". Good service generally, though the waitress acted kinda strange, but who wouldn’t when 4 loud Croats, probably stinking from the journey, barge in. The beers ranged from brilliant (the Weizen) and quite good (the seasonal Roter Bock), to the "why did I order this?!" Helles. The prices were good too I reckon. Don’t skip it!

Cramped and touristy with nothing about the beer intriguing. Small wood-paneled interior, pretty much your classic German setting. Four beers on tap and 4-5 in bottles at the shop across the entrance hall. Bockbier on tap for the fall was decent but unexciting. Worth checking out as the beer isn’t terrible but don’t expect anything to wow you.

December 2011 - Tiny even by Germany standards, this cozy little brewpub is not far from the center square, up the hill near the Burg. We scored 4 seats at the bar to eat dinner, a good find since otherwise the few seats were taken. Altstadthof offers a slightly broader variety than most German brewpubs -- including seasonal offerings. The food was delicious and firmly within the classic, regional style -- with a heavy emphasis on wurst, of course. The bartender was efficient and quite friendly, despite being nearly overwhelmed. We would most certainly return! (Brewery #563)

Brewpub in old centre, with a brewery, a distillery and a shop. Three regular beers and a seasonal, quality is a bit variable, ranges from questionable to quite good. You can get the four beers in samples, ususally with a sample of one of the beer brandys. The shop also sells tickets for tours of the underground cellars in the area. Especially the one that focuses on beer lagering is recommended. Food is good, from a short list. Try the beerbrands as well, they also have very good mustards.

They don’t fool with the beer here. On visiting day 5 superb beers were on tap, fresh, clean and tasty. Competition stuff. The food was not bad either. The beer goulash I had was solid. Menu and service are available in english, no problem of communications here. They give free bols of malt to chew instead of peanuts, and you can buy a bag of it as well to take out. Original idea. About 15 minutes walk from main train station. Well worth the detour.

quite a nice place. Seemed to do a roaring trade in takeouts with locals. The schwarzbier was very good on tap

Quite big brewpub near, castle. Nice place, good homemade beers, Rotbier is best from the selection. Food is traditional, service friendly and quick. There is also shop where you can buy beers, distilled alcohol from their beers, beer mustard and other things. For me best place in town.

Enjoyable little brewpub in a cute area of the altstadt. Decent traditional food. They offer visits of the old cellars underneath the brewery and sell lots of other distilled alcohols made from their beer (for example). However, their nice unfiltered Helles and great Schwarzbier are still the main reasons to visit, imho.
