By far the best place in SD! Definately a "must visit" if you come to San Diego. Try the spicy steak, and the sausage and greens soup.

This is a beer lovers bar - especially for hopheads. Owned and managed by a brewer, O’Briens can be counted on to have a great selection of draft micros along with a few quality imports. Though the number of tap handles doesn’t compare to something like The Yard House, the quality of the draft brews is top notch - always featuring lots of local San Diego and California brews. The bottle selection is good as well, and you never know what Tom might pull out as a special treat. There are also usually Ratebeer members present, so I can almost always count on having company. When I choose to go out for a beer, this is the place I like to go.

My favorite in San Diego. Mostly hoppy local brews. Sometimes they have beers on tap that you will rarely find anywhere else such as Cask Speedway, Lou Pepe Framboise, and Cuvee de Tomme. Bottle selection is nice, but sometimes a little overpriced. Service and food are above average. Crowd is strange. There’s a lot of older guys that perv on the waitresses. One regular only drinks Budweiser, while another only drinks white wine. I love the chairs, and the ability to sit there by myself, feel comfortable and not be bothered. There’s no problems bringing the kids in the afternoon or early evening.

This was my first stop in SD. This hands down had the best bottle selection and one of the best tap selections I experienced. The highlight was the BA Speedway that was lurking there. The food was pretty good and the service was a well. Atmosphere wise it was not my scene. More of the middle age drunk rowdy guys who think they are still in frat yelling all the time. Not a family joint for sure. I liked it there but there is better.

Best beer bar I’ve ever been to. Lots of great beers rotating frequently. Good food, GREAT service. The owner Tom is a great guy and knows his beer. He’s a big soccer fan, and this is a very good bar to go to if a soccer match is on. I was in San Diego 7 nights and I was here 5 of those and the tap list never got old. Food is good.

This is a great beer stop! They have the best tap selection of any place I’ve been to. When I was there they had New Belgium’s La Folie & Saison on tap, Russian River’s Pliny the Elder and Younger, Pizza Port Porter, Alpine IPA, and on and on. Then there was the bottle collection that I never even got a look at but I sure was quite good. Had nacho’’s there, and they were okay, but frankly no matter how good the foods was I wouldn’t go for the food. This place left me scratching my head, thinking so many beers and so little time.

Nice draught list and nice bottle list as well. Not an amazing bar, but a great place to enjoy some very hoppy brews with tons of fun people to talk to.

Unimpressive outside appearance, could definitely tell on the inside that this was a locals hangout. I was a bit out of place having arrived straight from a work conference to meet the San Diego RateBeer crew. No matter, the tap list is great, the bottle list has some gems, and the people are very cool. The place is a neighborhood bar in the truest sense of the concept, and something that is a bit lacking back East, where micros are a yuppies only scene. A can’t miss for sampling the California micro scene.

Ambiance-unimpressive. Service-very good as expected. Selection-outstanding...Bottle list -fantastic...tap list-awesome...lots of local micros and other hard to find California brews. I can usually find a good brew that I haven’t had before here. Definitely the hoppiest place on earth!

Nice American style pub. Darts, big leather chairs and an amazing tap / bottle list. Ever changing seasonals and special events almost nightly. Tom is da man.
