OK pub, but not getting why this ranks so high up. Modest selection. Old style, dated decor. Great service though.

Really traditional pub, lots of wood, no music nor tv, just ales. A house ale and some interesting locals on cask. When they saw us taking notes of the beers we were having we were asked if we were CAMRA members. Nice if you want to dive in the old traditional pub culture.

2009 visit After a poor initial visit luckily I revisited later in the week and landlords were in place and the place was buzzing, it just goes to show, the beer was better too.
Apr í14. Popped in, unfortunately nothing too interesting on the beer front and the beer I had was a little ropey. Very busy and popular though throughout the pub.

I popped in here for a quick half on my own. It had been something like 15 years or more since Iíd last set foot in here when visiting Bath for the weekend with Loz and also my brother Scott and his wife, thankfully it hadnít changed. This pub just oozes atmosphere, ok so its a tiny place but it is wonderful, lots of wood nd original features abound. I got chatting straight away once I came here, with first the barman and then a local and a young American student. Beer choice was nothing special but certainly no worse than the Raven, beer was well kept, I had Prescott Winter. But just to reiterate this pub is like stepping back in time, its not a tickers pub, its just a wonderful down to earth gem of a boozer the likes of which are few and far between.

A cosy and atmospheric pub with a decent range of cask beers (most of them from local breweries) on offer. It can get a bit crowded and tight, but itís well worth visiting this place.

Nice little old pub in Bath. Food is not bad for pub food. A few casks, but not a huge selection. Worth checking out, but nothing too special.

Small in stature, big on everything else. The best íTouristifiedí pub in Bath by far; and there are plenty for the unwary.
Three, almost cosy (but not chocolate box mushy), oak panelled rooms make up the pub, which is in a 300 year old building. WW11 Airplane pictures dominate the front (lounge) room.
The clientele is a mix of tourists and well off locals, no riff-raff in here matey, but a happy combination on my two visits, everyone chatting and getting along fine.
Good quality cask ales, a changing choice of 4 or 6 depending on the season and how many tourists are in town.
Bath is a popular cask ale pub crawl city, this pub is on every crawlers list; that is not by chance, it is a very good pub. If visiting Bath (for whatever reason), a trip here is a must for any beer lover.

Frequented by all--the town drunks, lone businessmen at lunchtime, and small family groups--this is a real English pub. Felt a bit awkward in there the first few visits but by the third time, I felt a little more comfortable. The pub itself is tiny with two intimate seating rooms and no music so can feel a bit tight and stiff at times. The beers are rotated fairly often, and considering they have a house beer and an atypical selection this is probably a must-visit when in Bath. Does not seem like a place to eat, but they do serve good.
