Small in stature, big on everything else. The best ’Touristified’ pub in Bath by far; and there are plenty for the unwary. Three, almost cosy (but not chocolate box mushy), oak panelled rooms make up the pub, which is in a 300 year old building. WW11 Airplane pictures dominate the front (lounge) room. The clientele is a mix of tourists and well off locals, no riff-raff in here matey, but a happy combination on my two visits, everyone chatting and getting along fine. Good quality cask ales, a changing choice of 4 or 6 depending on the season and how many tourists are in town. Bath is a popular cask ale pub crawl city, this pub is on every crawlers list; that is not by chance, it is a very good pub. If visiting Bath (for whatever reason), a trip here is a must for any beer lover.

Frequented by all--the town drunks, lone businessmen at lunchtime, and small family groups--this is a real English pub. Felt a bit awkward in there the first few visits but by the third time, I felt a little more comfortable. The pub itself is tiny with two intimate seating rooms and no music so can feel a bit tight and stiff at times. The beers are rotated fairly often, and considering they have a house beer and an atypical selection this is probably a must-visit when in Bath. Does not seem like a place to eat, but they do serve good.

Nice old, small pub with three small rooms. Small assortment of casks, some rotating. Nice vibe, quiet. A good stop in the middle of town.

My favorite place in Bath. The selection was a bit small, but the ambiance was just awesome, the servers and patrons all very nice and friendly, and it’s in a very accessible location.

I visited this place twice during the week, the first time nearly put me off, there was an east European girl behind the bar that all the locals were oggling and resultantly no atmosphere, very quiet and dull beer, luckily I revisited later in the week and landlords were in place and the place was buzzing, it just goes to show, the beer was better too.

This was my favorite Pub of several visited. had to be its size, You had to squeez by the bar to get to the tiny sitting area, but it had great cask beers on tap and an authentic feeling from patrons and conversation.

Visited on 18/5/08. Unspoilt city centre pub, with a traditional layout of two small rooms and a central bar - deceptively roomy given the small frontage. Beers, in good condition, include a house brew from Blindmans, 1 or 2 from Wickwar and a couple of guest ales, with Czech Budvar on tap too. clientele was a mixture of locals (in good spirits despite Bath’s defeat in the rugby premiership semi-finals) and tourists. If you are paying Bath a visit, this pub should be part of your itinerary.

My first pub in England and I was horrified that the beer was that warm. The locals were very friendly and funny. This place is no bigger than most living rooms.

Great ambiance, but very small. The place felt packed with only a dozen customers. Friendly service. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

One of the nicest places I´ve ever visited. Thanks to very friendly staff and customers who made the last night in Bath immemorial. The pub is situated in a 300-year-old building near the centre of Bath (10.6.2006).
