Decent pub in the city centre. Heard about this place but never beer, and now here I am... Multi-roomed, including a public on two levels (I donít think it is purposefully divided into drinkers and diners but thatís how itís worked out), a gorgeous little snug and a comfortable lounge in the back. Eight ales, although not much will float your boat: as it is the Euros we have two footy-themed beers, plus Bass, Abbot, Doom Bar, Bitter & Twisted, Harvest Pale and Old Hooky. No craft keg. The beer is, to be fair, in top condition, but a tickerís pub it ainít.

Not a big choice of beer, but a good one can be found. Good food, nice ambience. Like it.

Visited on 21st May 2016. Really old pub with lots of rooms and outside terrace. Nice traditional wooden panels in the snug. Beer range isnít that interesting with mostly larger breweries represented. Had a pint of Bass which was in good condition. Staff friendly. Nice place but not top of my Derby list

Genuine old. Cozy with a fireplace. Limited selection of ales. Relaxed on a Sunday afternoon.

As others have noted, this is supposed to be the oldest pub in Derby, it definitely looks authentic enough. I sat in the back room which was pleasant enough if a bit dull, the girls behind the bar looked pretty bored to be perfectly honest. Beer choice was limited but I drank a tasty enough pale ale which was served in top condition. Not a pub for a long session but worth a look for its historical relevance.

Genuinely old pub with a great ambience. Several interconnecting rooms, with always something going on. Beer range is reasonable, but a bit bland - they do have Bass from the jug though. Food is excellent, especially their vegetable chilli !

An olde worlde black and white timber framed pub that claims to be the oldest in Derby. Thereís a central cobbled corridor and three small rooms with low ceilings and lots of character. We went in the bottom bar, where thereís a bell on the counter to summon the bar staff from upstairs. Itís cosy and worth a look - and the beers were in good condition - although the beer range is limited to nine rather ordinary casks. (Visited 14 February 2015).

Visited february 2015 with beery friends. A really old, cosy town pub. Should be the oldest in Derby. Really cosy multi room pub, lots of wood and pictures and atmosphere. A nice fireplace as well. Not impressed with the beer range, but the beers were served in good condition. Go there for the atmosphere, not the beer :-).. They do nice pub food as well, by the look of it. Next time I wouldnīt mind eating there :-)

A tiny, old city pub close to the cathedral. Very tight, noisy, and crowded on our visit on a Saturday night, still friendly ambiance and fast service, and we even found a place to sit down after a while. Eight different cask ales on offer. A pub with historical interest, well worth visiting. Nice and large terrace outside for beer enjoyment in the summertime (Celebrating the Rams on top of the league, visited 21.02.2015).
