58 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 3/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 worldbeertaste (73) , England | January 27, 2013 This is a great pub, good atmosphere, nice food, friendly staff and great live music in a classy way. Has a classic aged look with a group of regulars that go along with it. Very welcoming. The beer for the most part can be the best in the city. It may have the best cellar or a manager who knows what he’s doing as the beer tastes amazing at this spot. Unfortunately, the selection is minimal. Copper Dragon and Hobgoblin are the usuals and unlikely to change often. In Lancaster there are few who have this traditional look. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 wimpyjoe (564) Manchester, England | January 18, 2013 One of Lancaster’s well-known music venues you are pretty much guaranteed to see a band play if you spend some time here in the evenings. It’s an intimate venue which enhances this aspect and a comfortable place to drink in the city centre with plenty of charm given it has been around longer than anyone in living memory can remember. There’s a good row of ales to choose from, but you might also be tempted by one of the whiskys that the pub is also known for. |
