Visited in July 2015. A nice place with an impressive 67 beers on tap. Around 10-15 of them from Mack, the rest from Norwegian micros. The service was friendly and the place was far from crowded in the early Wednesday afternoon. The price level were high, a glass of 0.17cl cost 45-65 NOK. A must visit when visiting Tromsø. The location was very good, close to the center of town, Tromsø is a small city.

A totally kickass place in the city centre, having been open since 1928 and fairly recently converted and upgraded to featureh over 60 beers on tap. A good handful of them are from Mack, including their more interesting beers (still not great quality), with the balance all from Norwegian micros. You can order in three sizes, starting in 0.17L pours, which helps keep the cost down, but the prices are still insane -- more so than anywhere else in Norway I’ve been: 45-75NOK for a 0.17L pour here, with 0.5L pours going for around 125-190NOK. Extremely friendly owners who are very hospitable and eager to please. One of the best bars in all of Norway for sure. If you only come to one beer when in Tromsø, this has to be it.

Been at the place before - just at closing time. This time I was more lucky. In the meantime the place has changed considerably. Not so dark anymore, room split in small sections but first and foremost the bar with the many taps Iominating. They claim to have 67 taps, I only counted 65. Might be my fault. All the beers are described on a huge blackboard. Maybe they should try with some electronics. What a job to write alle these beers by hand. A good deal of interesting items are spread in the room. Apart from the bar a full grown polar bear is the second most photographed item. Staff friendly and quick. Some of them have knowledge about beer. Good Norwegaian micros on tap. Price level high but do not expect anything else from NOrwegian places. If in Tromsø a must see place.

Largest tap list I think I’ve ever seen outside the US. They have the full line of Mack beers, a large number of creative one-off house beers, and a big selection of the best Norwegian craft breweries. A large cellar space with areas of sitting and standing. Very high prices.

This place is one of the best bars I’ve visited, with freaking 50 taps dedicated to Norwegian micros from all over the country it’s unique as far as I know. Their own beers labeled Ølkjeller were all excellent, at least the four I tried. The clientele was a mix between tourists, and local drunks - one of the latter entertained a group of Germans with a rather eccentric performance. The service was good. Beats any place in Oslo, I could easily move to Tromsø knowing a place like this exists.

Some of Norway’s best ales are now available from 50 taps behind the bar. Lots of beers from Nøgne Ø, Haandbryggeriet, Ægir, Kinn, Austmann, 7 Fjell and so one. This is also the best place to sample beers from Mack’s microbrewery in addition to their range of lager beers, displayed on another 17 taps at the front of the bar. Just great. Ølhallen (the Beer Hall) is an institution in Tromsø and has been serving beer since 1928. The Hall is connected to the northernmost brewery in the world – The Mack Brewery - and function both as a Brewpub and as an outlet for its products. This is the only place serving beer in Tromsø that opens as early as 9 a.m. But they also close early, usually at 5 or 6 p.m. (Saturdays at 3 p.m. and closed on Sundays), so be sure to check the opening hours before visiting. Central location in the main street of Tromsø. Friendly and attentive staff. They serve most different kind of lagers, but in 2005 the brewery started producing ales. Ask for the months Bryggmesterens Spesial (The brewer’s special ale), and you might be lucky to find a bitter, a pale ale or a stout from cask. Among the lagers the most interesting should be the seasonal xmas beer, and a very nice münchener (Bayer) and a bock. Highly recommended is also Gullbok – a blend of two strong lagers. No food, except snacks – try the dried fish. Non smoking inside. The guided tours at the Mack Brewery starts here. A pub crawl in Tromsø usually begins at Ølhallen.

A world class brewpub? 9 beers from Mack’s own microbrewery, Ølhallen and an impressing amount of domestic craft beers on tap. Ølhallen has taken a conscious choice and only offers Norwegian craft beers on tap. Good service and staff were both service minded and knowledgeable. Free newspapers, a stuffed polar bear, a fireplace and lots of local history photographs and beer labels on the walls. An amazing place in Arctic Tromsø. (Visited July 10th 2014)
