Visited on March 8, 2013. Didn’t eat, but we were a large group that stayed for most of the night drinking plenty of beers. Good service, nice staff and other visitors. Good beer selection. Kept paying with my card, no idea about prices, but I’m guessing high since Helsinki is not cheap and they had great beers. Big place and great opening hours.

Oluthuone Kaisla is well-located right by the main train station in Helsinki. Inside it is fairly standard looking "English-style" pub one expects to see in Europa. I was mildly disappointed to begin with due to the pretty unadventurous tap list. Perhaps I visited on a bad day? The extensive bottle range seems to be the best bet here. A good selection of Scandinavian, European and American bottles were on offer. My second gripe is the lack of bottle list and due to the fairly dim lighting the challenge to choose a beer. Anyway we found a few decent ones and had a fun time. Service was a bit hit and miss, depending which server we got (one guy was great, the other women not so much). A decent spot to stop in for a beer. but there are plenty better places in town in my opinion.

Nice cozy pub in downtown Helsinki. Good selection of taps, including also domestic crafts. Bottle selection is also nice, good selections from Germany / Belgium / UK / US / Denmark, and of course, Finland. Been there twice and it’s been rather crowded both times (during the week).
Definitely one of the better places in Helsinki.

(Visited Nov 2014) Quite a large beer hall, centrally located not far from the Central station. There are two entrances, with the one on Vilhonkatu leading directly to the main bar. The bar is just to the right from the entrance, after that there is a seating area, and further along there are another two large rooms with lots of seating. Service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of tap beers, around 10 from Finnish brewers (small craft brewers as well as big ones) and around 25 imports, mainly well known names of good quality. Good selection of bottled beers. Despite the volume of the place, it still gets a bit crowded on evenings, but atmosphere is friendly and nice. Shouldn’t be missed.

Large pub with a nice interior spread over a few different rooms. Plenty of Finnish, Scandinavian, Belgian and British beers to be found here. What a shame I was here with a hangover.

A nice, big pub placed as central in town as it could be. Not possible to miss and in convenient distance for the bus/train station to grab a few beers waiting for the next train or bus. Big selection of both tap and bottle, Finnish beer on tap marked clearly with a flag. Super friendly and knowable staff, at least the two times I visit this bar. Straight forward pub food as I didn’t try. First time I visit I was not aware the size of this pub, entering through the area I thought was the whole bar, surprised to find another room adjacent to another part of the pub with another bar almost like a mirror version of the first. The big list of Finish beer is great for the beer tourist, but also fun to see some exclusive bottles from Nøgne Ø among others. Definitively the best beer selection at least in inner city. Very nice ambiance as well, I really liked this spot.

Great location, widest selection in town (perhaps country) and many taps too. Staff has decent knowledge. A bit unpersonal though and quite crowded and noisy at times. Top notch place nevertheless.

Best beer pub in the city center of Helsinki. The place is huge, got two different entrances from two different streets and two different bars. The tap selection is huge (for nordic standards) and the bottle selection is top class with some big fridges you can browse yourself beside the bars. On tap you get alot of nice finnish craft beers as well as some nice international ones. The bottle selection here is impressive with some very rare bottles you won’t find many places else. Sour beers like Cantillon and some nice american craft beers that is hard to come by in the nordic countries. On my visit I had my first ever Berliner Weisse (Circus of sour from Magic Rock) and a fantastic kriek from Lindemans [Cuvee René]). Downside is the place gets very crowded cause its right next to the town square and railway station but if you come outside the busy hours you are in for a treat and even under the busy hours the place is so big you will probably find a place to sit.
